a Conversation with Ashley Jones
Welcome to The Third Seat, where we share our conversations with experts & individuals who have a unique perspective to share! Part of being a human is dealing with the reality that life is going to have its ups & downs. It is important to have people in our lives who can help us navigate these portions of our lives. On today’s episode we had the honor of chatting with Ashley Jones, the founder of Love Not Lost, where she works to ensure everyone feels loved & supported in their grief. Tune into this episode of The Third Seat to listen to the full interview with Ashley Jones to hear what she has to say! We hope that you enjoy! Thanks for listening!Below is some information about Ashley, a link to her LinkedIn account, & more! After working as a designer for printing and web development companies, I decided to start my own business. My husband and I were surprised with a pregnancy, but were excited to be young parents. A month after our daughter was born, we found out she had a terminal genetic condition (SMA type 1) and would likely not see her first birthday. I became Skylar's full-time mom and caregiver and I loved every second of it. She was the greatest joy and I was so grateful for the time we had together. When she died at 21 months old, I knew I would need something to get me out of bed, so I started my own companies - one for portrait and wedding photography and one for corporate photography and branding/design. Anytime I heard of someone facing a terminal diagnosis, I volunteered to do a free portrait session. Most people took me up on it, and amazing stories of impact came out of each session and the prints/books I would give people. My husband lovingly reminded me we had bills to pay and I couldn't keep giving everything away, and I agreed. But I also knew this was important, meaningful work that needed to continue without charging families who were suffering. I believed I could find other people to join me in giving it all away and formed a non-profit with a vision to scale to a national level and serve people everywhere. Love Not Lost was born (www.lovenotlost.org).Since then, it's been an incredible journey of growth, impact, and love as our mission has evolved to revolutionize the way we heal in grief. I'm continually blown away by people's generosity and excited to support people around the world through our tools and resources. Link to Ashley’s LinkedIn account: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ashleynicolejones/ Link to Love Not Lost’s Website: https://lovenotlost.org/ Link to Ashley’s TEDx Speech: https://youtu.be/rbFp5nSvsj0
