Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible, a song that Jesus grew up singing, and far superior than any of the "stoic-how-to-be-manly" books out there attracting young men. This psalm teaches us the Biblical attitudes for a good life even in the face of great suffering.

This psalm teaches us how to contemplate. The question is why believers are oppressed in this world. The psalm is an example to us of how to think about deep problems and how to find an answer by recalling to mind the greatness of God and his promises. The poor and oppressed in this world are the believers (it is not merely an economic designation).

Book 3 of the Psalms (73-89) is called the book of questions. Here you will find the deepest questions that have motivated humans and God's inspired answer directing our minds on how to think about and answer these questions. No philosopher has ever done better.

Would you love to sit at the feet of Jesus and learn from him what he thinks you should know about history and divine providence? Then you will love Psalm 78 and want to sing it in public worship.

Here I continue on what is exclusive Psalmody and how each Psalm is the words of Christ (Col 3:16). We look at the Psalms as 1. the inspired Word of God, 2. elevating our mind to a mature reading of the Bible 3. the words of Christ

There were three things that convinced me of Psalmody and here I share them as we think over Ps 141. The first was enough to persuade me, but the third was what changed my entire outlook.

How can we identify false Christs and false Gospels?

In Colosians 3:16 we are told to sing the words of Christ in the psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Now let's use that insight, that these are the words of Christ, and look at Psalm 49.

In chapter 7 of Job, he despairs and said his live is meaningless and he would not live forever if given the chance. But Job forgot something very important. We learn about it in Psalm 121, and Job learns it by chapter 42.

This begins a series on Nehemiah. Nehemiah teaches us how to think about our condition in this world, how to pray, what to love, how to be diligent and work toward our goal, and about the glory of God and the truth of his covenant.
