Love the topic, host should bud in less
I really enjoy the topics covered on the show but the host’s voice and repeating what her guests say right after they say it is irritating. I would rather hear the experts share their discoveries than her summaries or commentary on it every minute. She had a Chinese scientist share, and right after she cut in and said that listeners may have to rewind to fully understand what he said. She then went on to say verbatim what he had just said, as if he wasn’t speaking adequate English or something. We understand what these people are saying. Give more air time to the experts and cut all the unnecessary commentary in the middle of expert segments. I also don’t understand why the cheesiest theme music ever was added for season 2. Let the topic and the facts presented speak for themselves. We don’t need pseudo-angelic “oooohs” and “ahhhhhs” at the beginning of each episode to bring the point across.

Interview more SLPS
While this podcast was incredibly illuminating and insightful I think her hard stance against ASHA and against their stance on FC and RPM ignores the serious harm these methods have caused others. There is a reason that ASHA has taken this stance and instead of diving into this topic an opinion against it. I am curious why more AAC system are not discussed or used with non-speakers? Why is this podcast so pro FC and RPM instead of AAC? AAC systems promote true independent and spontaneous communication but I have not heard it mentioned at all. I still give this podcast 4 stars because it is truly amazing but as an SLP I draw the line with the last episode.

So good until it wasn’t.
I was So INTO THIS PODCAST!! I was fascinated, enthralled, I was telling people, even a teacher and their non verbal student about it! Why do not more people know about this!? Why do scientists not understand? And then my daughter said that maybe I should look a little deeper and get different opinions on the information being offered up in the podcast. What a disappointment to find out that most of the information in the podcast has been debunked. That it is the spelling facilitator that is doing the replying to the questions. That the autistics are picking up on cues on what they’re supposed to answer, that there is a possible script.
Why are these autistic people only spelling when there are much more advanced boards that can be used that help form sentences and thoughts with pictures and phrases? I feel duped and gullible.

Bad Science
People really will believe anything these days. The “evidence” given is so easily debunked. This podcast is demeaning to autistic people and dangerous. Do an actual double blind study if you want to be taken seriously.

Disagreement with Pseudoscience
Pseudoscience I disagree. I trust Ky Dickens and the autistic children’s parents are probably asked if they could record them before they actually interviewed them. I believe my Aunt (Ky Dickens) than some other rando.

My daily dose of amazement
When I heard this on my mom’s phone one day, I was so confused. Like you said ky, it’s hard for my brain to imagine this being real, since our brain only sticks to the things we have been told, and one of those things is telepathy is impossible. But when I went through all the possible ways that the autistic people could have somehow seen what their parents or teachers or therapists could have known what they were looking at, I realized that they really can read minds. I wish that all the autistic people would not be so prejudiced anymore. They are our connection to heaven, and we are the ones who are disabled. Thank you for making us realize the impossible may now be possible. You’ve impacted my life so much and now, even though I’m in my early teens, I want to be able to help them in every way possible to get their voices heard

This is not science. This people using a few technical words to appear as if this is done with objectivity. It is subjective, non-specific and unprofessional. Very clear why Ms. Powell lost her license. She is no longer an MD (if she ever was one) with good reason.

Absolutely toxic nonsense sandwiched between ads. A platform for every dangerous idea you can think of, and they platform genocide. Insane that apple allows this podcast on its platform.

BS and harmful ableist, promotion of FC pseudoscience
Facilitated Communication and related methods like RPM and S2C are long-ago debunked pseudoscience that have caused a lot of harm to vulnerable people. Read up on it at facilitated communication.com. The reason all these individuals type out what their facilitators know/think/see is that it is the facilitator doing the communicating and unaware of their influence. There are many ways to cue without ever touching the person. Look up “FC is not science” on YouTube to watch videos that explain no touch cuing—one video analyzed is even from this podcast itself. Please treat Nonspeaking autistics with respect by not stealing their voices and limiting their access to effective interventions!!

Where are the double blind tests?
If Ky Dickens conducts a successful double blind experiment I’ll change it to five stars.

So. Many. Ads.
It’s a giant ad that’s briefly interrupted for podcast content. I remember in the very beginning of the podcast, she said she’d never do ads. How things have changed.

Mind boggling
I wouldn’t say I was a skeptic before I started listening to this podcast, but my goodness there is no way I could ever be skeptical of it after listening to the first few chapters. 3 days in I’m just finishing up chapter 10. JP’s story broke me as I was driving home last night. I grew up with a girl (we will call her Jessica) Jessica is nonverbal autistic, she is also the absolute smartest person I have the privilege of knowing. As a child in the 90’s things were different and I’m a bit ashamed that I too fell into believing she was not able to do what we did. But when we were in high school 03-07, she blew me out of the water. My eyes were opened and I am so glad for that. She is a talented published author of children’s books which I keep on my bookshelf to read to my future baby. Society needs to get their heads out of their backsides and believe in the spellers. They are the most amazing people with so much to teach us if we would just listen. Ky. D, you are so amazing for making this podcast and I thank you so much!!!

Exploiting Autistic Children
We went through a period of charlatans exploiting autistic children and their parents 40 years ago and science proved it was a scam then. This podcaster is just rehashing garbage to enrich and make a name for herself among people with zero media literacy. Shameful. Don’t let yourself be bamboozled. She’s catering to rubes.
The Wicked Mrs. Hicks
What happened in Season 2?
This show has drifted away from that core focus centering stories, experiences, and possible abilities of autistic children and individuals and more toward featuring guests promoting businesses, projects, or new ventures. I miss the deeper dives into the families, the communication, and the actual telepathy discussions that made the podcast feel so unique and meaningful in the first place.

Love this show
There are always going to be ill informed skeptics. That’s the nature of this work. And that’s also the point, that it will inherently require some type of opposition.. which is required for any level of growth. Bring on the skeptics, the show isn’t for them. What Ky and her team are doing is remarkable.

Almost fell for it
Wow, I almost thought these purported true accounts weren’t facilitated or manipulated. It’s so much more heartbreaking if you take this podcast at its word when you find out that these are dubious claims at best. I hope the podcasters are also being duped because the alternative is that these people are screwing with our minds just for money. There is value in the lives of the severely mentally impaired without them being magical— let’s talk about that, huh?

Facilitated Communication is Coercion
As an autistic person, this show horrifies me. The host has hidden the real circumstances of these “experiments” behind a paywall. A quick watch of those videos reveals parents cueing their children. I recommend FCIsNotScience on YouTube for their careful, scientific debunking of this podcast. The complete lack of acknowledgement on this show about how facilitated communication hurts autistic people and erodes their ACTUAL communication is appalling. Non-verbal autistics do not need to be savants or telepathic miracles to deserve respect and acknowledgement. This show is nothing more than neurotypical exploitation of autistics.

Dangerous pseudoscience
FC has been proven to not work, period. This sort of thing preys on well intentioned parents wanting to connect with their children. Instead it removes the voices of people who are autistic.
In short, this is a grift disguising itself as hope for meaningful connection.

Changing the Paradigms of Consciousness
This podcast has blown my mind, corroborating things I’ve believed for a long time and pushing those beliefs even further than I could have imagined. I recommend it to others ALL THE TIME. It’s high time we start bringing telepathy into the mainstream and validate the experiences of non-speakers.

AI??
i love this podcast! i’ve always been pretty woo-woo so i’ve believed in this stuff forever, but to see actual data behind it is so cool. i do have to wonder if AI is being used though. there are a lot of “it’s not just ___, it’s ___” and other phrases AI likes to use. but at the same time, AI models were trained on journalist’s writings, so this could be a chicken or the egg scenario. if there is AI being used, i hope that stops in any future seasons. great podcast overall though!!!

A whole new world
This podcast had me gripped until the very end. Such an interesting topic, and you hear a lot from families who have experienced this supernatural ability in their children. I really enjoyed that they included their attempts at scientific studies to test these abilities… and were honest about the drawbacks and what they could/could not prove. 10/10, have recommended to so many of my friends!

Season one is awesome
Listen to season one it’s the best and I can’t wait to watch the movie. Season two on the other hand I lost interest. Not sure why but I did.

I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast, both seasons
Please tell me you’re gonna continue this. I am desperately waiting for the third season. My grandson is now nine was diagnosed with asper and now we’re told autism. He does not speak his number verbal although I don’t feel comfortable saying that cause he can repeat things like if we tell him to say something he sense it in a really sweet, low voice please tell me there’ll be more seasons

One of the most important podcasts of our generation
Huge fan of this podcast! I’ll find any reason to bring it up in conversation. Ky & the rest of the Telepathy Tapes team has flawlessly delivered us every example of human consciousness I can think of, and I can’t believe there’s more to come! Just listened to the Talk Tracks with Federico Faggin, and I’m speechless. Collective consciousness should be what we hear every day when we turn on the news, but alas..

One-star review criticism is addressed if you listen
Curious about the number of one star reviews. I’m past episode 30, and many of the complaints people have here are directly addressed. Too bad some people don’t seem to be really listening.
This podcast may change the way you perceive the world.

Mind blowing & addictive
Love this show so much! It’s validating in so many ways. I’m so glad this has shined a light on what non speakers can do when all their lives they have been told on the can’ts. Truly amazing work from Ky and her team. Can’t wait to hear more.

A podcast that will make you see the world differently.
Professionally done. Opened my mind completely. It’s honestly all I can talk about these days. I’m a skeptic and all about the science. I believe everything that has been discussed here. Our minds have much greater capacities and it’s time we started looking into it.

Amazing. I love it
This is so interesting and new to me. Really great, helpful information and I hope every person impacted by in any way we’ll learn about it.

Harmful pseudoscience
I’m cool with certain benign and vague concepts like near death experiences and energy healing, but you lost me big time on the autism communication. That is widely disproven by evidence based methods and does real harm to people with profound disabilities and their families. I have friends with cerebral palsy who use computers to speak, but they do so with 100 percent agency. Introducing a facilitator is demonstrated to be rife with errors and, at times, outright abuse it silences disabled people and preys on desperate families. Stop platforming it.

Do your own research
In short FC has been proven to not work, and all takes away voices from people who are autistic. This rhetoric is dangerous and prays on parents with severely autistic children who are willing to look past the research to connect with their kids.
While Ky does a great job at telling a story, any basic googling will show that this podcast is baseless. It has been shown time and time again that the type of communication the autistic kids use is not their own voice but rather the voice of the facilitator, which is why it seems like telepathy is the answer. Podcasts like this are genuinely dangerous to the autistic community as it makes it seem like those with level 3 autism have supernatural abilities and pushes them away from genuine proven care and support systems needed. It also prays on parents who are desperate to connect with their nonverbal autistic children. If anyone listens to this I encourage you to do genuine research, and also watch the pbs documentary about facilitated communication. It’s disgusting to act like science doesn’t want to listen to the evidence when in actuality it’s people like Ky who push long debunked claims like FC.

Favorite podcast
I’m an avid podcast listener, and I have to say that both seasons of The Telepathy Tapes are my favorites of all time! Carefully crafted stories that need to be told. Fascinating and hopeful content that everyone needs to hear! My heart and mind are cracked open and I’m riveted. Thank you to all who played a part in this series.

Extremely engaging!
I am fascinated with every episode and wish each season had a lot more to listen to. The topics and narrators are very engaging and love how strongly I was hooked and how much I look forward to every episode.

Not science
So I listened with intrigue as the host promised a scientific outlook in the first episode, then was gripped by the entire first season. And then I learned that they have refused to replicate the double blind telepathy experiment that shows that this is not, actually a phenomenon.

Equal parts fascinating and beautiful
I’ve been listening to podcasts (nearly daily) for probably a decade. I’ve never listened to one twice, and I’ve never left a review, but this podcast is different - and hear I am, listening to season one a second time and leaving a review.
I can’t explain why, but it filled me with a hope I haven’t felt in a few years. It’s fascinating, scientific, research-based, and yet so, incredibly human and beautiful. They do a masterful job researching without objectifying and spotlighting voices that are often unheard.
Listen, and let it fascinate and inspire you (and then share it far and wide)

For opening up our hearts and eyes to this sensitive community and their message of love & magic. My bandmate and I are currently writing an album we’re calling Telepathy Tapes: The Musical, each song inspired by a different episode. Plus, I prescribe different episodes to my Psychotherapy clients as needed.

Listen to this!
Ky is so thoughtful and rigorous and I really appreciate how committed she is to humanizing rather than pedestalizing non speaking Autistic folks. This podcast is revelatory and life changing or at least perspective changing and everyone should hear it and contend with it!
