This week in the teachers' lounge we welcome our very own, Shila Schneider. Shila is currently serving as our elementary assistant principal. Shila's own early education greatly influenced her own desire to become a teacher. From a young age, she knew that she was destined to teach. This week Micah and Brian sit down with Nancy Lindeman, a leader in Maria Montessori education. Nancy is the founder of Maria Montessori Academy in Ogden, Utah. Since the beginning years of her career, Nancy has dedicated herself to education and specifically, learning the ins and outs of Maria Montessori education. Welcome back to Season 2 with The Teachers' Lounge! Today we welcome back Karen Bell, but this time we're asking all the questions. Since 2013, Karen has been immersed in special education. After years of Montessori special education, Karen has found herself at Syracuse Arts Academy. With her experience, Karen is a well of knowledge and wisdom. This week we sit down with Judy Nixon, Syracuse Arts Academy's north elementary principal. Judy is notorious at Syracuse Arts for her leadership, charisma, and humor. As Judy explains, education was never her intention. After recognizing a need, Judy dove into the realm of education and has spent the entirety of her career leading. Judy is a well of knowledge and tells it how it is, no sugar coating. Listen along as we learn from Judy's years of experience. 

This week Micah and Brian sit down with Syracuse Arts Academy's Synda Whipple. Synda has spent years in just about every classroom setting. With a passion for history, Synda is a storyteller. She shares with us the strategies behind her effective teaching. Together, we learn how to cultivate curiosity within the classroom and how to be our most authentic selves for our students. 

This week on the Teachers' Lounge podcast, we welcome Becky Okey. Currently, Becky serves as Syracuse Arts' Elementary principal. With over 34 years in education, Becky has experienced it all. With a major life change as a young woman, Becky was encouraged to seek a career to support her family. Not only did Becky become a teacher, she continued on to receive her master's degree in education. Becky reminds us of the importance of being present in the journey and setting an example for our children and students.
