GUEST // Andrew Bernstein
Today’s guest is the incredible Andrew Bernstein, affectionately known as "Bernie". Bernie possesses a rare combination of both physical and mental strength. Andrew is an accomplished journalist, editor, race promotor and cyclist. Over the past 16 months, he has had to draw on every ounce of that strength to rebuild and repair after a near fatal hit and run while he was riding his bike. Bernie currently resides in Boulder, Colorado. Bernie’s resilience is the stuff of legend and I’m honored to have him on the podcast.  I want to first recommend the podcast that Bernie participated in with Outside Magazine. Here is the link for that. Additionally, here is a link to the essay that Andrew wrote for Outside Magazine following his near fatal injuries. You can keep up with all things Bernie through his instagram account. Check him out @Bernietweets Be sure to keep up with our podcast on Instagram @TheSugarbench and send in any questions or comments to [email protected] Thank you and I hope you enjoy this episode!

Magic Sound Machine | Part 1
So I guess this is what happens when you find a magic sound machine in your closet on the hottest night of the year. El and I came up with this one and tried to do it in one take. I hope you give it a listen and let us know what you think. There's four magic buttons so hopefully a couple more stories at least. Also, thanks for sending in the silly sentences! GUEST // David & Frances Schaftlein
A 100 yard crushed gravel driveway takes you up to their farmstead. They're far from any city and close to peace and in harmony with the sweeping land around them. David and Frances Schaftlein are as hardworking as they are beautiful human beings. I've been lucky to get to know them and honored to be able to share even a part of their story. We could all do well to follow in their footsteps. Thanks to Sarah for making the logistics of this work and for Donna for conducting the interview. Send in any questions to [email protected] and check us out at THE SUGARBENCH on Instagram.
