In this episode, we sit down with Josh Gutridge AKA Big Josh.
Big Josh has an amazing story and we knew we had to share it with you.
He’s done so much for the sport of powerlifting yet many of you probably haven’t heard of him.
Almost 15 years at Westside Barbell and part of the Newark Crew from back in the day. That’s not even the best part.
While he’s done some impressive things on the platform it’s what he’s done off of it that truly makes him an integral part of the sport.
Josh is a phenomenal coach and you can hear it in his voice when he talks that he truly loves coaching and helping people.
He can instantly see the potential in someone, the potential they can’t even see in themselves, and working with them to bring it out. He just genuinely wants to help people get better and wants zero recognition or acknowledgment for it.
The crazy part is, he isn’t even a coach, he has spent his professional career as a probation officer in Knox county Ohio where he has had a significant role in teaching cognitive-behavioral therapy classes and organizing programs available at probation houses through various county agencies which include counseling, group therapy, educational opportunities, and job skill training.
This was a phenomenal conversation as we talked about the mindset and mentality it takes to succeed in powerlifting, how to be a better training partner and coach, when Louie brought bands to the gym, and how you knew your pizza was ready during training
Sit back and enjoy as you’re in for a wild ride on this episode of The Strength Pursuit

In this episode Showman talks about why you can't spend all your time coaching. You need to take time to recover and re-energize because if you don't you'll end up being of no value to anybody around you.
It's like training. You can't train 40 hours a week and expect to get better without recovering.
Same with coaching, you can't coach 40 hours a week and expect to get better as a coach if you don't recover and give yourself time to actually get better.
More isn't always better

In this episode Coach Bronkall talks about the concepts and theory of synchronicity and flow states.
Synchronicity where we as humans interpret two separate, seemingly unrelated experiences as being meaningfully intertwined even though there is no evidence that one led to the other or that the two events are linked in any other way.
Flow is a state of mind in which you become fully immersed in an activity.

We are connected to the world 24/7
Think if you squatted 24/7 you probably wouldn't recover very well
