The folks that run this pod are some of the most talented that I’ve come across. Their ability to go from silly to dramatic to terrifying is unreal. I desperately want some of these to be made into short fan made movies. This pod deserves way more attention than it gets. Listen. You won’t regret it.

Supremely creative, poignant, and hilarious. I have legitimately been simultaneously haunted, driven to tears and laughter by episodes. At the very least, you’ll always be entertained by unique narratives told in the brilliant framework of a world driven by The Church of the Story and the executives of Cro-Croa.

Such a great podcast—so creative, funny, heartwarming, heart-wrenching, profound, and well-performed. An incredible contribution to fiction podcasting.

It is such a dumb treat for my dumb ears and each time there’s a new episode, my dumb stupid brain feels like it’s being tickled. Ha! Oh! Don’t make me pee my pants! Be careful, tho- sometimes when I’m tickled I kick! Anyway, one day that may not be too far off when the bad guys win and I give up on trying to make art and I agree to become a loser idiot underlord who has been forced to make real money, I intend to share it with y’all. TSMBT has been producing original weird fiction regularly for years and has maintained the same high level of quality the entire time. How many other podcasts can make that claim? Definitely one of my top favorites.

I enjoy the story a lot but I keep accidentally eating while I’m listening. I hope to get to a point where I can eat while I listen. I drive a Ford Taurus.

My favorite fiction podcast ever! Every episode I’ve listened to so far is good - not a single dud. I hope they put out a book that compiles all the stories - I’d love to read them out loud to friends myself!

A perfect example of what can happen when you blend absurdity and phenomenal writing! A show that alternates between surreally hilarious and surreally disturbing, with wholesomeness occasionally smattered in between. Truly a spectacular podcast that deserves only the highest of praise. The Story Must Be Told!

I binged all the available episodes at work for the last couple of weeks and OH THE BOY do I love it. It reminds me a little bit of Welcome to Nightvale , which I also love. Sometimes the Story makes me physically ill in its subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) horror (I have actually said WHAT THE F*CK out loud to myself at work), and sometimes the Story is so beautiful or sad it breaks my already shattered heart into tinier, greasier pieces. I love the Story, and I love the creators. Thank you all , and the Story, for the delight it brings me.

The rich bounty of this podcast is truly evidence of the story’s never ending love and I just told a small child that Santa isn’t real. The fellowship of the story is bonded by bubbly hot grease soda. Mmmm slop slop slosh slosh 😋 Please continue to lurch through my ear canal and make me a channel of thy wisdom. Wow this tiny tot just wont stop sobbing 😊

Maybe it’s the way my brain works that makes this specifically work for me but this podcast leaves me feeling uneasy and off balance in the best way possible.

TSMBT is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever heard. I sit in awe of its very existence and thank God for allowing the forces to come together, necessary in order for this podcast to exist: Not just an anthology, but an anthology wrapped within pious surrealism, prefaced by bizarre religious pleadings... making The Story Must Be Told as unforgettable as it is entertaining.

The Story Must Be Told is very underrated and original. While all Story material is thrilling, it runs the gamut of tragedy and horror to sweet tear inducing poignancy and sentimentality. I understand why people have a hard time appreciating the value of the podcast but normalcy is for the birds. I’m not sure if it’s the cultish and borderline blasphemous nature of the podcast’s perverse version of a modern western religious service or the skilled, consistently hilarious oration of the characters on the show that makes it so titillating and fascinating. I love The Story Must Be Told like a thirsty tot loves Cro-Croa!

The episode mentioned above is one of the best things I’ve heard on any fiction podcast. This podcast is foul and horrifying and is a wonderful piece of art.

I’ve binged from the beginning over the last month or so and I’m nearly caught up. I was sad to see my endless supply of story nearing an end, but then I realized I CAN START OVER AGAIN

I thought they wouldn’t notice. I know the Story only has one TRUE commandment, to rate and review the Story on iTunes, and yet in my folly I thought I could avoid this responsibility. Well, truth be told, I could. And I did. But then things started happening. My teeth flipped INSIDE OUT! Chewing is so painful with exposed nerves! Well sure, Story, I can take what you throw at me, I thought. But this morning I woke up and my bed was rusty staples. I think Chalms did that one, but hell, I don’t want to find out. 5 stars This review was not written under duress

TSMBT was a real treat after I thought I exhausted all of the LPOTL catalog, and I felt I saved the best for last. There’s a painstaking attention to detail and tone that’s unlike anything I’ve ever heard. My skin is crawling every episode. Plump on it!

I came to this podcast from hearing their ad on one of the LPOTL network shows, completely unaware of what to expect, but I loved it! It’s essentially a cult-like church service as a framing device with a strange or speculative fiction story inserted as the “sermon.” Sometimes the sermon directly involves the church “members” and other times it’s completely unrelated. The cult is not based on any single real life example, but there’s a bit of everything mixed in, including “celebrity” congregants like in Scientology. Other members of the LPOTL family make appearances on occasion as a guest speaker, including Jackie, Marcus, Henry, Ed, etc. if you like weird fiction, you will love this podcast!

I don’t even have the words to describe it, this show is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. The love and talent that goes into it is astounding, I’m glad it exists.

I’ve been a fan of the last pod crew since they were at the cave. I enjoy pretty much all they do. From lpotl, Abe Lincoln’s top hat, page seven, and the no longer around round table. Rip Bird Luger. This show. This show is truly something different. I’m not sure if I like it. I’m not sure if I understand it. I’ll give it a few more episodes.

This podcast literally makes me gag, yell out loud, and hysterically laugh. Keep it up y’all.

This is without a doubt the best fictional storytelling podcast to date. It is The Jabberwocky meets Joe R. Landsdale meets whatever you can imagine as gruesomely amazing... Often gut wrenching and yet equally emotional storytelling. I feel a kinship with this podcast that is not available anywhere else. I would kill to write for them.

Was really excited to try this when the last pod guys talked about how creepy it was. First episode was great and I wanted more! Then I listened to another 4 and found disappointment. The first episode is horrifying and disgusting, the others were like a little boy who finds the words pee, poop, and penis entertaining. Only good thing about it is sound design.

A friend asked me what this podcast was about. I said, “That’s a good question,” sent him a couple, and asked him to tell me if he figured it out.

Before The Story, I had it all. Now The Story is all I have.

An amazing combination of hilarious and creepy...it’s like going to a great comedy show, and seeing someone in a clown mask poke their head out from back stage. You’re still going to laugh, but you feel a little unsettled. Highly recommend!
