This episode we will be addressing the topic: How to Start a Clothing Line from Scratch
Joining me today is Lekeytha Dukes, the owner and operator of the Back to My Roots clothing line and organization.
We spoke a little already about this week's topic, let get right to the questions;
Back to My Roots the clothing line, the brand, the movement where did the inspiration come from? Take us through that light bulb moment.
I noticed the image of the logo is that of black or african american representation, why did you choose that logo to represent you?
Why is it important for that representation to be seen?
Why do you feel that representation isn’t used more often?
Walk us through the process of an idea in your head, to a plan on paper, to acting out the plan. What were your major steps and what helped you transition from one step to the next one?
How do you juggle everything going on and deal with the feeling of being overwhelmed?
For those who want to start a brand or a clothing line, yet don't know how to find the shirts or where to print quality designs or even where and how to effectively advertise their product.
What would you tell those individuals?
What do they need to prioritize, the key points?
What was or is the most difficult part of owning your own business?
What would you warn other business owners about before they go through it?
What was or is the most satisfying part of owning your own business?
Do the cons weigh out in your opinion?
Part of a business especially for a clothing line is owning your trademark or mark of trade. What are your thoughts on trademarking logos or images, is it important?
Why or why not?
Do you have any advice for those going or preparing to go through the process?
Last episode we talked about how we as a community need to support our black owned businesses and entrepreneurs. Other than purchasing material, how is someone able to support you or your fellow black owned businesses?
How are we as business owners able to help or positively influence our community?
What type of events or classes would be beneficial?
What is a black owned business to you, what does it represent?

The Generational Regression from the 1980’s to 2021
Joining me today is Mike Parker, the owner and operator of unlimited fixers, co-owner of 24 hour maintenance and repairs, and business partner of realty of dallas elite.
We spoke a little already about this weeks topic which is; the generational regression from the 1980’s to 2021.
People might not know this initially but you are from a different generation and are able to see things from a different perspective then someone around my age being born in the 90’s.
Let me ask you this what year or time period do you feel the mindset of the black community was at its peak and I will explain what I mean.
When did we have our eyes set on the significant things in life like business ownership, generational wealth and economic independence (black wall street; banks, supermarket, schools, etc.)?
At our height what was the priority meaning the culture norms?
Now presently what is the priority as a whole?
How do we mend it or get back focused as a collective?
What caused us to stop supporting our own and keeping money in our black owned establishments?
When do you feel the culture changed?
What actions do you feel contributed?
Explain to the audience why black owned businesses are important?
Why should we support them and what are they able to do for the community?
Now, from an entreprenurial or business owner standpoint what do we need to do as Black businesses to thrive and influence cohesion?
What are we able to do to help our community?

The Meaning of specificity is, the state of being clearly defined or identified; to be precise, exact or distinguished.
-Here is a brief synopsis of today’s conversation.
This episode we will be addressing the topic: Relationships and Gender Roles in the Black Community
And joining me today is Barry Irving, a martial artist, a published poet, a short story writer and the founder of Journi’s mixed media coming this December.
Barry we spoke a little already about this week's topic, let get right to the questions;
What is your definition of a relationship?
Where do you think we learn the norms or regular behavior of a relationship?
Here is what worries me the most, how is one able to operate in a healthy relationship if they don't know what it looks or feels like?
What is the difference between a healthy relationship vs an unhealthy relationship?
What is the fundamental Purpose of a woman?
What is the fundamental Purpose of a man?
In the last episode, what black people need from a president, we touched a little on what caused single parent homes and it was mostly due to economic strain in the black family, the economic advantage of having an absent male and the involvement of the criminal justice system.
What do you think happened to cause what we see today when it comes to roles and responsibilities as it relates to single parent homes?
What effect do you think single parent homes have had on relationships when it comes to the children?
What effect do you think the LGTBQ movement is having on our households and gender roles?
What effect do you think it is having on the children?
All of the listeners know that my primary focus is the african american/black community. How do we get and keep the black family together meaning black male and black female? What adjustments do you feel are needed to keep us together?
My opinion is that as a community we lack self control and discipline. We give in to our temptations too easily and too fast. Speaking selfishly I myself pride myself that I was a husband first and a father second, I feel when you are intentional and specific the results and intention bears a more stable outcome. I feel that if we approached relationships from a long term perspective well before having sexual relations we would be able to avoid alot of the trauma and scorn that inveivitably will be passed on to the offspring of that relationship. Being selfish I want us to stop making baby mothers and make wifes first then mothers and at the same time making husbands first then fathers. What do we tell the youth now to prepare them to make better and more holistic decisions?
In closing, what do you want the listeners and potential supporters to know about you and your intentions?
