We are back again! Don't mind the silly name--we're just having some fun with two DELICIOUS bourbons: Eagle Rare 10 Year and the Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel. Gotta say: while the Elijah Craig is cheaper and easier to find in many cases (check state listings for your state), we found the Eagle Rare 10 to be worth the hunt in this case. At the end of the day, these two whiskeys may not be competitive in price or availability, and we know this. Sometimes the whiskey tongue wants what it wants, and our selection is fairly vast!

Thanks all (two or three people, tops) who are checking back in with us! We had a long break thanks to the trials and tribulations of chasing the American dream. Thanks to my brother Frank (Kito), we get to try out the Dalmore 12 Sherry Cask Finished scotch, and it really doesn't disappoint! For those that are celebrating: happy Valentine's Day!

Come listen along as Jake and Greg review two entirely new (to them) scotch whiskeys: Old Pulteney 12 and Glenmorangie Nectar D’or... Surprisingly, the award-winner doesn’t win our hearts or join our everyday collections.

Let’s just say the results of this experiment are ...hazy, at best. It’s almost unnoticeable that the ”guerilla” style of one: Monkey Shoulder Batch 27 shows up. Listen in for a surprising, buzzed treat in this Churchill episode!

The Glenfiddich Journey, Part 5: Glenfiddich 21 Year, ”Reserva Rum Cask Finish,” Is She Overpriced??
This single malt scotch whiskey is far from the ”everyday drinker” price range for most (including these two yahoos) but is certainly something that had to be tried. That said: you may be surprised by the outcome, and The Smoking Cask guys think they may have already identified a champion in the $200-300 range (check local listings, folks)... Is it the Reserva Rum Cask? Listen to find out!

As the Glenfiddich journey nears its end, Jake and Greg are really in for a treat thanks to Glenfiddich’s attention to every detail when producing the Glenfiddich 18 single malt scotch, entitled ”Our Small Batch.” Spoiler alert: this is not a blind for Jake and Greg, as this has always been the celebratory and rare occasion go-to for Jake and has become a fast favorite of Greg’s.

A simple nubber episode! Unlike the typical mid-length or Churchill-length episodes, today Jake and Greg take a refreshing break from the norm to do a surprise interlude episode, where they each provide a whiskey that is new and exciting. The results are surprising! Both selections are worlds apart in both cost and expression but guarantee to entertain!

Glenfiddich 15--while a bit more expensive than Glenfiddich 12-- is an excellent choice for anyone who has wet their beak in nice entry-level Highland or Speyside scotch whiskey and is looking to take the next step. A small price increase nets solid improvements in overall flavor and finish, while keeping the palate simple.
