Gotta say: while the Elijah Craig is cheaper and easier to find in many cases (check state listings for your state), we found the Eagle Rare 10 to be worth the hunt in this case. At the end of the day, these two whiskeys may not be competitive in price or availability, and we know this. This single malt scotch whiskey is far from the ”everyday drinker” price range for most (including these two yahoos) but is certainly something that had to be tried. That said: you may be surprised by the outcome, and The Smoking Cask guys think they may have already identified a champion in the $200-300 range (check local listings, folks)...
