Life As A Young Woman in India: Episode #1
Shaheen Chishti, author and international activist talks to Misbah about challenges faced as a young woman growing up. Misbah discusses how she faced the challenges as a young girl but made her way up with support from her own family. According to her, her family also is evolving through the gender narrative but more families need to widen their world-view. She found her own identity as a proud Muslim, studied her scriptures and in a way found her own interpretation of culture and identity. Misbah represents an ideal mix of an educated and empowered woman who knows herself and her place in the world.  Shaheen Chishti's book The Granddaughter Project travels through history, spanning significant world events, such as the Holocaust, Bengal Famine, and Notting Hill riots in UK. Three women pass on their stories of exploitation down to their granddaughters for further dissemination. Its a story of emancipation gained through generations. It hopes for an equal world where the women of our generation challenge the status quo and find their rightful place in the world.
