Nel 1993, tutti i veri fan NBA in Italia avevano la canotta di Larry Johnson, l’unica che si trovava facilmente nei negozi della Champion. A quel tempo, l’accesso alle informazioni, alle notizie e ai video del basket d'oltreoceano era scarsissimo; nonostante questo gli appassionati crescevano sempre di più, consumando le copie spiegazzate da troppe letture di American Superbasket e guardando la partita del sabato pomeriggio su TMC come un rito religioso. La NBA era un mito irraggiungibile e, per questo, quasi un’ossessione.
