As a bonus, the podcast is motivating and will inspire you to persevere.

The info is good, just wish they were less condescending.
Great info for sure but it feels a bit negative and like they’re talking down to you.

Six Figure Income...Really?
I just finished listening to the May 4th, 2020 podcast titled “ How Social Media Is Changing The Music Industry”. I question how you can have a six figure income by selling $100 worth of music/merch to 1,000 of your super fans. There would be $100,000 in gross sales but after costs are deducted, your income would be dramatically less. The May 4th episode wasn’t the first time I’ve heard the Sales vs. Income terms misused. Leah and CJ, you appear to be very intelligent and should know the difference between sales and income. By not differentiating between the two, I feel you are misleading your listeners. If I feel you’re misleading me over this, then I’m not sure I can trust that my investment with SMA is a wise choice. Why not produce a podcast episode explaining the real-world costs that are associated with realizing $100k in gross sales? That would be helpful and may convince more of the undecided “Dabblers” to join the tribe....

The real deal!!
I love the podcasts.. I have been friends with C.J. For about 15 years I think.. we share the same birthday.. I have been listening to these podcasts for a bit before I realized that CJ was the other person chiming in.. I texted him immediately after.. just to hear that Leah is the real deal made me listen even more with direct purpose.. Leah is actually teaching us how to offer our music to fans who actually want it! What a concept.. I have know for some time now that marketing was what I needed to learn. I’ve purchased several programs (with what I could afford), several books on marketing, click funnels, split tests, etc.. all of this is extremely valuable information. Priceless in fact.. love it!!

:)
i’m very keen on listening to music business podcasts and the savvy musician is one of my favorites. leah is authentic and genuine and i always appreciate that about her. i definitely learn a lot and the humble approach is definitely the perspective that i want to learn from. from marketing to the truths about being in the industry. i’m thankful. as a developing artist, one topic that i would like to see discussed is the importance of a press release package and how to create one that is appealing to venues, radio shows, and different playlists. thanks for everything, SM!!!! ❤️

Great broadcasts! Thanks for sharing!
Each episode is super great! I watched Leah introduce herself to the world in her first fund raiser. I supported her and shared her to my followers, hoping to increase her funds. The next time I saw Leah, she was talking about her online course. I watched for several days, then attended the webinar! WOW! What a system she had put together. You don't get a system like this without concentrated, hard, WORK. Leah had jumped miles ahead of my Street Marketing experience for a few Sony Music gospel labels. I wanted what she had, so I signed up and am amazed by all the technique she shares. What a wealth of knowledge and expertise. I suggest you jump on board, listen to the podcasts and get yourself moving ahead!

Man oh man! Every episode is a hem!
Ph man going back and listening to some back episodes... Episode 50 just made my life. I've been asking myself how don't market to fans I don't have. How can I make a brand on a culture when I don't have had to know what the want! What do I do first?.. It can be so overwhelming!!! This episode just blew me away!!!! Thank you for all your work!!

November 16th episode
I love Leah, love her courses, she is amazing and this podcast is full of awesome information and I live listening to it! I thought it was very unfortunate that the guy co host used Donald Trumps Make America Great Again slogan to portray it as better and more meaningful than Obama’s message of Hope. First of all it was dumb because Obama won two elections with his slogan - whether or not that guy Co host liked it and second of all many people perceived Trumps slogan as racist. I thought his bringing this up was nothing but bias because it literally defeated the point they were trying to make and j thought it was incredibly poor taste. I hope Leah talks more and that guy can keep his opinions to himself. It is so obvious he’s a big republican and it keeps coloring the things he says, I really wish he would stay away from that topic because it takes away from Leahs message.

Amazing content
Inspirational and definitely motivating, the three part series on crowdfunding was worth the price of admission alone, which by the way is free! The podcast adds another dimension to the depth of information being offered in the classes which I also highly recommended. It keeps me engaged with my own journey and the content I’m working on in my classes with her. Being a soloprenuer can feel daunting and having this podcast helps me feel there is someone with a map who understands. Thank You for doing this Leah & CJ!

Doing My Dream!
Leah’s message of pursuing her musical dreams while being a stay at home mom really resonated with me. I’m also a busy mom and a lifelong musician. Actually by being a mom I thought my time was up in pursuing my musical dreams. With Leah’s message of hope for the new music industry was just what I needed to hear. I’ve been a TOM student for the last year or so, lots of little wins along the way keep me going. I first started FB ads at the tail end of the relevance scores. I was getting 9’s and 10s! My FB followers went from the 70s to several thousand. I’ve even had a couple of my songs played on the radio in different parts of the world... even with my bizarre genre of Victorian Gothic Symphonic Rock :) Thanks to all at SMA!

Did You KNOW?
I get it, you are sceptical, but this podcast has shifted my way I approach my music. BTW - NO one is paying for me to say nice things. Listen, and do!! I genuinely LOVE this podcast, and her classes. CJ Ortiz is awesome as well. This info is gold!

CJ is awesome!
Just listening to all these podcasts has given me the lift and motivation needed in order to further do this. Oh and CJ ORTIZ...he's like God (he's not exactly him obviously but pretty darn close I mean to me anyway). Especially when describing our motives of of pain versus pleasure! It really described us pretty well! I really can't thank enough for Leah, SMA and all the podcasts. I would highly recommed her!

The Perfect Bridge Between Marketing & Music
I've spent tens of thousands of dollars investing in learning marketing, and while it's definitely helped immensely, there isn't always a clear correlation between the online marketing world and music. Leah does a great job bridging that gap, and giving specific tips and strategies for how to apply proven marketing strategies to the new music industry. I really look forward to each new episode, as they help provide the motivation and guidence for where to go next with my music business.

Great info and knowledge
I’ve been listening to the podcast for a couple of months. I’m not a registered client, but I love to hear the information shared. The conversations are to the point, no fluffs. She and the host keeps it real. The knowledge shared from a musician with terms I am familiar with as a musician as well, inspires me to keep going. My dream as she said it is not to me famous but just to make a living doing music - playing and teaching violin- and sharing music with everyone who is willing to listen. I strongly recommend subscribing and listening to the podcast. You will not be disappointed!

Hope for us all
Leah, thank you so much for sharing your story today in episode 62! For me, the part about you living in a fairly remote area was the most encouraging as it’s something I am constantly struggling to come to terms with. I don’t live in a big city and therefore have to get creative with making opportunities for my music where I can succeed. Thank goodness for internet and all the resourceful ways we can use it to stay connected and find those superfans that aren’t going to be living on our doorstep! Thank you to both you and CJ for delivering this great content every week and for the effort you put in to motivate the rest of us. I am a member of TOM and the Inner Circle newsletter and can honestly say that your content keeps me moving forward each week in my music goals!

This episode was a total sales pitch, with a little info
How to market your music online as a title for this podcast episode was misleading. I checked out after 20 minutes, which I can’t get back. It’s fair to sell your programs through Podcasts. But you should just say that and not pretend and drag me along through basically no information while you talk about how great it would be if I go to your Academy. I feel like this is bait and switch. Every three minutes you may say one thing that I already know “you need to build your email list”, and continue to talk about the amazing facts and how much better it’s going to be if I take your Academy. Please stop using deceptive titles for your podcast, and just say what it is, a pitch for something else. I’m sure you have incredible information and I’ve paid for online programs before, but I knew what I was doing from the beginning

Incredibly Helpful Info For Musicians
This is the kind of specific information I have spent thousands of dollars already trying to receive from multiple business coaches who did not have enough specific information and experience in this PARTICULAR field to give me. DEFINITELY listen to this if you are a musician. The fact that this is free or this cheap is insane.

Informative
This podcast is really interesting. I love the special guests as they are super informative. I listen to this in the car bc I like double tasking and it helps me feel like I’m not wasting my time. I am just getting started, but feel more confident about the possibility of having a legitimate revenue stream than I ever have.

New Favorite Podcast
Leah McHenry is a wise force of useful brutal honesty. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite podcast voices because of her uncanny ability to speak straight to my situation with class and tact. I laugh, nod along, and continually feel like taking notes. Do you know how I started listening to her show? While walking my baby (so it’s hard to take notes), but luckily you can find her actionable information condensed in the show notes she makes for her listeners (and in her emails). I was a full-time musician at one point. I toured my butt off and never collected anyone’s email. I was lazy with marketing, had no online presence, and basically flew by the seat of my pants. I’m starting again from ground zero as a niche musician mommy not willing to tour. I’m still kind of all over the place and have a long way to go, but I find an enormous sense of direction in this podcast. (Her co-host CJ is a wise motivating force btw. He speaks very fluently on marketing issues and always leaves me feeling inspired.) If you are any kind of artist interested in e-marketing, I highly suggest this podcast. I hope they write a book someday too.

Great insight
I aways learn so much from these podcasts, preparing me for the future and giving proof that major record labels are becoming even more powerless, less unworthy gatekeepers.I hope it inspires many to have freedom to create without hindrance and connect directly with people that love their works.

Thank you Leah and CJ!
I am a student in the Elite program, and I took the plunge with this investment after a year of gaining SO much from Leah's teachings in The Online Musician. And amazingly, even after all the excellent courses I've done with Savvy Musician Academy, I still get something new from every podcast. This program is SO great. I am learning so incredibly much, and everything I apply is increasing my efficacy, not only as a musician, but in all other facets of my life that involve marketing. (Turns out marketing is an essential skill for a lot of things, not just music.) Thank you, Leah and CJ, for your incredible skill and generosity in pulling together all this material. The knowlede you offer is changing my life, and I see it changing the lives of so many others who are willing to invest our time and follow your lead. THANK YOU! :)

Hope for Musicians
The free content given in these podcasts is revolutionary and so generous. I’ve been following Leah for over a year and recently gotten back on the wagon. Her tips have allowed me to start making money with my music business, and I’m fully confident I’ll be able to quit my job and do what I was made for before too long. So grateful and inspired by her tenacity, dedication, and fearlessness.

Putting those dreams into action
Leah McHenry and her podcast guests are very helpful in showing how to succeed in this new music business we're living in. I am currently working through the podcast material, as well as her "The Online Musician" program to get my music career going. Leah gives real, usable tips here as well as inspiring me to take action. I will follow her to the ends of the earth because she knows what she is talking about and lives it everyday. It’s the real deal!
I been following Savvy and Leah for awhile now and have bought only one program but seriously she’s telling you everything you need to know and do. It all comes down to the work, time, and money that you’re willing to invest in yourself. Leah is the real deal, I’m about to pull the trigger on the Elite program because there is so much value to what she offers. I am not affiliated in any way with Savvy or Leah. This is an authentic post from a music lover just like you!!

Wisdom and Sound
Are you ready?
The information provided in the podcast is so valuable. Very informative and detailed, and discussed in a demeanor that is casual yet concise. A healthy amount of urgency is expressed and not in a judgmental/presumptuous way, I totally feel a call to action from this. I feel as if it was exactly what I needed to hear to help motivate me for continuing as a musician with a realistic and *slightly* more professional attitude 😁. A little bit about myself for context- I’m turning 30 this year and I’ve been recording my own music for 15+ years. Mostly extreme metal, so I always thought “nobody makes money from metal.” I’m a drummer mainly but I practice all the instruments I can. I write, record, study and enjoy all styles of music. I have spent 4 semesters as a music major in college but dropped out in 2012, and traveled on a handful of North American tours with major label black/death metal bands. The past 8 years I mostly do “local band” type of production as life is centered around my full-time career in foundation soils and construction materials testing/inspection. So the past 5 years I feel a sense of dread as life’s expenses demand more attention and I’ve felt a pressing obligation to “grow up” and abandon my passionate practice of music and recording. I realized I needed to change, or more accurately -adapt to life’s evolving conditions- and grow in a way that I don’t have to abandon music!! My attitude and approach toward music were self-defeating and costing me time and money. I knew with a focus on marketing, which is the biggest thing I’ve ignored all these years since I’ve been so focused on writing and production (Leah mentions this is a common trait of creative/artist types in an episode..) my time and energy spent in music has the potential to offer more than its personal intrinsic reward (which unfortunately still only comes at the cost of time and financial resources). This 5 part series really spoke to me since I was SO ready to receive it. I will be excited to hear more, and I am considering a deeper look into the counseling services and tools offered within the Savvy Musicians Academy. I have a lot of changes to make before I take the dive but now I am motivated and renewed. I now can reflect and acknowledge that my skill and years of dedication to the craft are valuable far beyond the fact it quietly brings me joy- and the fact that there is demand for this commodity is not a compromise to my artistic integrity. I have a goal that within the next 1-2 years my music production as a side hustle will break even and pay for itself, and aspire to transition into bigger moves later on. I also enrolled back in college for the first time in 8 years to take “intro to music business” course to brush up on the latest conventional knowledge in this ever evolving landscape. Most of all I’m grateful to now go about with the feeling that “It’s all uphill from here!” Thanks Leah!!!
