A deep dive into scrap metal pricing and how to read scrap price markets with Josh Musser of Weiner Iron and Metal.  Learn the details of upgrading scrap metal to make the most for your money and for your customers, as well as many of the details behind the pricing of scrap metals aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel and steel.  The Crew learned all about pricing of metal markets, the Midwest Premium's impact on the Aluminum pricing world.  Josh went from an economics major in college who paid his way through school working in manufacturing and construction to a leader in the foundry world working his way up from the bottom.  This hands on approach is similar to how the Sahd Metal Crew is learning and they discussed plenty of parallels on management challenges when young employees manage older employees when they have less experience.  All of this operations experience helps Josh when trading metals because he has a great deal of experience in understanding the exact recovery of metals melted because he was part of that process.  The trading side and his interest in all things economics fulfills his general interest in how economies run since his youth and that is what led him to his current position at Weiner Iron and Metal.  This as a great conversation and we hope to get Josh back in the dumpster soon!

Last week we were honored to sit down and talk to our friend Jeff Nicklaus of J&J Material Handling.  Almost every Christmas gift we bought or returned sat on a rack that a company like J&J installed and serviced.  The rapid expansion of warehousing and store redesigns is a fast-moving business with narrow deadlines and many logistical challenges.  It takes a dynamic team like J&J to pull it off--we learned a great deal about the business from Jeff!
