This week I sat down with New York Times best selling author, frequent guest of the Rich Roll Podcast, ultra runner, musician, Mishka Shubaly. I can name it all and he has done it.
All I can say is WOW! I will admit, I came into this episode ill prepared and maybe just a little underdone but what came from this conversation gave me and hopefully you, a complete reframe on addiction-recovery, sobriety and alcoholism.
Mishka has had to deal with a lot of trauma during his life span and has been to the depths of hell and back. The arc between where he is now to where he was is a huge achievement in itself. 13 years unclean sober and counting.
It was an absolute honour to do this with such a powerful man.
Enjoy the episode.

Go for it now, The future is not promised to no one.
On this weeks episode I sat down with Mark Avery the family man, the mental health advocate, the ultra endurance athlete and most of all one of the most humble humans I have ever spoken to... I mean it! From completing 21 half marathons in 21 days, running 1000kms from Brisbane to Sydney to 24hours on a treadmill. Non of these define Mark as the athlete he seems. No because he is much more than just an endurance athlete. His story says so.
From suffering from depression, his own drinking habits and death of a close friend he found solace within exercise and reaching out for help. A family man he is paving a positive path for his kids and the people around him.
He is giving permission for others to follow suit and achieve unimaginable goals but remember and as he says in the episode GO ALL IN AND DO THE WORK!
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did <3

"Sometimes when you're overwhelmed by a situation - when you're in the darkest of darkness - that's when your priorities are reordered."
On this week's episode, I sit down with a familiar face, Brett Hardy. Brett is no stranger to mental health and the challenges it brings to life. "Brett’s story involves a mental health sojourn that spans twenty years from 2000 to 2020. Prepare to ride alongside him as he goes through the bipolar motions of extreme highs, devastating lows and all the semi-stable moments in between.
His story is proof that if a diagnosis is accepted and the right support embraced, then an individual living with mental illness can not only survive but thrive!"
He has been dealt a shit set of cards in in his life but has come through on top. Enjoy the episode!

To change things up and to use the time I have, I have decided to do little 10-20 minute episodes on things I think matter. Hopefully they are some easy listens and you can grab some sort of value from them as they come.
On this weeks mini ep, I wanted to talk about what healing looks like in reality not on social media. We seem to have created a false narrative around healing, that it should be easy and "done in 3 easy steps if you buy my coarse...". There are certain modalities of healing that certainly do help but will not get to those deep rooted traumas that we are trying to work through. There are many bandaid fixes to such deep rooted issues.
It's not attractive and it sucks but you can get it done.

“There may be people that have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do.”
On this weeks episode I sit down with world record holder of the worlds strongest marathon, family man and ultra endurance athlete, Corey Phillpot to go deep on family balance, what it takes to break a world record by 3 hrs and things he has planned on the future.
After being through the bender and coming out the other side only to be confronted by his own inner demons, Corey made a split decision to call his dad and change his life. This isn't a very romantic story of self exploration, more a man who was sick and tired of being sick and tired. On the cusp of suicide and ending it all that one call of reaching out changed the trajectory of his life for the better. Married with 2 children Corey is pushing the limits of what humans can achieve with a little hard work and dedication not only with his sporting achievements but with family life as well.
Enjoy this episode because I sure know we both did.

"Never cut a tree down in the wintertime. Never make a negative decision in the low time. Never make your most important decisions when you are in your worst moods. Wait. Be patient. The storm will pass. The spring will come."
This week on the podcast trans Australia runner Troy Jones joins me to talk all things mental health and running. Troy is no stranger to the depths of his own mind and wants to show people in his circle and anyone he can reach through social media that you can change the way you look at your own life for the better.
Troy in 2021 ran across Australia in 72 days covering 4000kms in the process. The logistics alone was one hurdle but to run on average 50-60km a day is another. Troy has the mental capability and capacity to to over come depression and push through barriers he never knew he had. This was a great conversation and I had a lot of fun recording it. Troy is a humble guy who just wants the best for the people around him. I hope you enjoy the episode.
