👋🏾 Hey everyone! Ashley here with RSS podcasting. Today I'm sharing how to get listed on Alexa and Amazon devices by submitting your podcast to TuneIn. Ya know, one of the greatest things about podcasting is there are so many places you can promote your show for free. By adding your show to podcast directories like TuneIn it instantly becomes available to millions of new listeners. Here’s how to do it.First, head over to TuneIn and sign up for an account. Once logged in, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and under the subheading "Communities" click "Podcasters."From there, click "Publish Podcast" Next, you’ll fill out the form with your podcast details. Then, accept the terms and conditions, and click the "SEND EMAIL" button. At this point you should receive a notification that says “Thanks for contacting TuneIn!” If you’re approved you’ll receive an email from TuneIn about your show’s submission which can take as little as a few days or up to two weeks. We received our notice of approval approximately three days after submitting our request. It said our show would be live within 24 hours, and sure enough, it was!Now when someone opens the TuneIn app on Alexa, they should be able to find “The RSS Podcasting Tutorials Show” on their favorite Amazon device. We tested it out, and found our podcast when we said, “Alexa, find RSS Podcasting Tutorials Show on TuneIn.” While it was a very specific inquiry, we must admit it was pretty cool seeing our show come up on our screen when we said the request into our FireStick! If you follow these steps, hopefully your show will be accepted too. In this video, we’re addressing one of the most common questions we’re asked, which is whether or not you need a website for your podcast. The truth is you do need one, and there are 6 reasons why.#️⃣ 1. The first reason is that having a website gives you a place to archive old episodes. Some podcast directories limit how many episodes listeners can access, but if you have a website you can share links to all of your past shows if you choose to.#️⃣ 2. Reason number two is that you can repurpose your episodes into other forms of content more easily. This is a great way to utilize the power of SEO to grow your audience, your fanbase, and your business.#️⃣ 3. Having a website also gives you a place to engage more with your audience. Listeners can comment on how you did, what they think of your material, and even give you episode ideas.#️⃣ 4. The fourth reason your podcast needs a website is that it makes it easier for people to find your show. Needing to download an app to listen to your episodes could be off putting, but if you have a link to your show right on your website, it’s easier for them to keep up with the latest news and releases.#️⃣ 5. Having a website gives you a place to gather contact information and share show notes and resources to better serve your listeners. Let’s say you’re talking about an eBook or a course in your latest episode. Your website is the perfect place to direct your listeners to so they don’t have to try and remember the information related to that resource.#️⃣ 6. The sixth and final reason you need a website is that it gives you a place to promote products and services for sale. Whether they are your offerings or someone else’s, having a website allows your listeners to take advantage of special deals and offers you may have available. This is a wonderful way to better monetize your audience, and increase your revenue.I hope this quick video has inspired you to create a website for your podcast if you don’t have one already. That’s all for now. Hey everyone, Ashley here with RSS podcasting, and today I'm gonna share some advice on choosing a name for your podcast. A lot of hosts struggle with this because they don’t know where to begin. The first step is to sit down and start brainstorming. Consider what your show is about and the keywords that best describe it. You’ll also want to think about things like SEO and keeping your title short to make it easier for your listeners to find you online. Write everything down that comes to mind, and then look at the list you’ve compiled and see what jumps out at you the most.If you’re still stuck, it may also help to write a brief description of your show, narrow it down to one short sentence, and then narrow it down further to just a couple of words. If you’re still struggling after that, look at other show titles and then sit with your brainstorm sheet to see if a theme for a name emerges.Another great idea is to ask people on social media what they think you should call it. Who knows? Your best friend’s cousin’s sister might have the perfect name for your show!If all else fails, you could use your own name. Or if you’re hosting with someone else, use both of your names. For example, Robert Allen and John Smith could have “The Rob and John Show.” Check out the links in our description for more helpful tips for your podcast. 👋 Hey everyone, Ashley here with RSS.com Podcasting! In this video, we’re sharing how to create artwork for your podcast in Canva. This will be the graphic that represents your show on directories like iTunes, Google podcasts, and Spotify. The nice thing about Canva is that you can use most of its features for free. While you may want to consider hiring a graphics designer at some point in the future for things like artwork, logos, websites, etcetera, it’s a great tool for a beginning podcaster. Before you begin designing your artwork, you need to look for inspiration. You may already have an idea of what you want it to look like, but if you don’t, we recommend looking at other podcasts in your niche. Head to your favorite search engine and type in your niche and the word podcast. Then click images in the search options and you’ll likely see several examples to help inspire you with the creation of your own design.Another option to find inspiration for your artwork is to look at the top shows in your niche on iTunes. Like you did with your favorite search engine, you’ll just type your niche and podcast to reveal the images of the most popular shows. While we would never suggest copying someone else’s artwork, there’s no harm in using elements from other designs to influence your own.Once you’ve decided on a general look you’re going for, head over to Canva, and create an account. After that, click the button that says “Create a Design.” You’ll want to add custom dimensions to ensure your art is big enough. Podcast artwork should be at least 1400 by 1400 pixels and a maximum of 3000 by 3000 pixels. After you’ve entered the dimensions, click “Create New Design.”Now, you can start adding elements like colors, fonts, and shapes. You may also decide you want to add a background image. For that, you can either use a photo you’ve taken or use a stock photo from a royalty-free site like Pexels or Unsplash. For our example, we’re creating podcast art for the fictitious show Couch Potato Fitness. With just a few clicks, we can upload our image, add text, and manipulate colors and fonts until we’re happy with the design.Perhaps you’d prefer your podcast art to look more like a cartoon. For that, you can use Canva’s free clip art to create your design. We used clip art of a couch and a potato to create the second cartoon style option of our graphic.Keep playing around with the design until you’re happy with the final product. While creating it, remember to make sure that your title is legible, and that the graphic represents what your show is about. After you’ve settled on your work of art, download it to your computer. Then, head over to your podcast host and load it to your profile. When you share your RSS feed to podcast directories, your design will be pulled and shared automatically.Though choosing artwork can be a little intimidating, remember that if you ever decide to change it, you can always upload a new image to your podcast host. It doesn’t have to be perfect, so don’t stress too much about how it looks when you’re just starting out. As you grow and learn, you can keep improving all aspects of your show. That’s all for now.
