Luckily our good friend and new guest Bob joins us today to lay down some very strong opinions…on the movies, and on Sandra’s hairstyle choices. 

We’ve got two guests this week! Clara and Gretchen join Ruth and Kristen to discuss Palm Springs (2020) and The Holiday (2006) with this weeks’ theme, endless holiday. The ladies discuss whether both movies have physical and friendship chemistry, if sex truly complicates everything, the importance of the side characters and the lovable neighbor in The Holiday and why Kristen is not allowed to throw surprise parties. 

It’s the first week of the Elite Eight! In this latest match up between Love and Basketball (2000) vs. How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days (2003), Tara joins Ruth and Kristen. They discuss if Quincy really wants to play basketball or just following in his father’s footsteps, if Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have any discernible character development, if the women at the magazine are bad friends for writing an article inspired by Katherine Hahn’s dating habits, and how much time the hosts really spent at IHOP in college. 

It’s our favorite trope - enemies to lovers! Bridget Jones Diary (2001) is up against the cult classic But I’m A Cheerleader (1999). Ruth and Kristen discuss the satire, the self-acceptance journey that both female leads must go through, Bridget Jones' body issues, and if being a bad kisser is worse than being a bad person. (Hint: maybe!)

We’re going on a vacation! This week, Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) battles it out against the Netflix original Falling Inn Love (2019). Ruth and Kristen discuss what makes a good movie kiss, the epic Vampire musical, whether Sarah or Peter was the reason for their break up, and why Ruth just wants to watch Bring It On 5 again. 

This week we’re going old school! The Philadelphia Story (1940) is up against Some Like It Hot (1959) in this weeks’ screwball category. Ruth and Kristen discuss the iconic actors in this golden age of film, the progressive storylines in Some Like It Hot, if plays translate well onto the screen and if Kristen hates old movies.  

We’re taking the competition to the workplace! This week it’s 500 Days of Summer (2009) vs. Two Weeks Notice (2002). Ruth and Kristen discuss why Summer was an underdeveloped character, if Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant are just charming people or actually do have chemistry, and the great soundtrack from 500 Days of Summer. 

We’re about to travel through time! In this episode, Kate & Leopold (2001) battles against Palm Springs (2020). Ruth and Kristen discuss time loops and time travel, argue the plausibility of missing elevators in Kate & Leopold, whether the characters in Palm Springs were good people and Meg Ryan’s awful haircut.
