On this week’s Episode of The Road Show, Airen talks with Chris Stalcup of Chris Stalcup and The Grange
Passion meets purpose—it’s a good way to describe the essence of what’s driving Chris Stalcup and the Grange’s sophomore record Downhearted Fools. Theirs is a sound like a bonfire raging behind some small-town dirt-road shanty, of a band valiantly laying bare its soul while everyone dances wildly, moonshine drunk in the Southern night. Stalcup and his band channel Gram Parsons-influenced Stones tunes like “Honky-Tonk Women” and “Wild Horses,” occasionally coming off like a collaboration between Son Volt’s Jay Farrar and Drive-By Truckers’ Mike Cooley. The songs are deeply authentic and unapologetically Southern.

This week on The Road Show, Airen talks with the talented Lance Stinson!
Lance Stinson hails from Lumber City, a South Georgia town with a little more than a thousand people. His first musical memories came through the speakers of his dad's '79 Ford pickup. The eight-track gave him a good dose of Keith Whitley, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Conway Twitty and Merle Haggard, whose "Rainbow Stew" remains a favorite. Those influences would combine to give him a taste for what he calls a "kick-in-the-teeth country." That vocal diversity, and the energy Lance brings to every performance has been honed on stages all over the Southeast, through hundreds of gigs in nearly 200 clubs and hondy-tonks. He has opened for and developed friendships with the likes of Randy Houser, Travis Tritt, Luke Bryant, Brantley Gilbert, Colt Ford, Darryl Worley and Lee Brice, among many others. That experience and his talent led him to Nashville and he's just getting started.
Airen and Lance discuss how growing up in a small Georgia town influenced his music, his appreciation for fans, and being selected the 2016 Georgia Male Country Artist of the Year.
