Love the show, I’ve probably listened to 90% of all episodes. Only reason this doesn’t get a 5 star is there’s one too many obscure and random movies they cover. If they were to be doing one for me, one for thee, they clearly are doing more of the former.

If every episode was Bill, CR & Fennessey this would be a 5 star podcast. Unfortunately, insufferable people like Van & Mallory ruin so many episodes for great movies.

The Good Son? Really?! They’re out of movies.

These guys are doing something fun. They watch movies they love and get to talk about them. The individual awards is a boring bit, and a waste of time. Every member of this staff is not funny, all their humor comes from dumb inside jokes that get thrown around the office I’m sure. Chris Ryan might be the worst. Sean Fennessey also bugs me because he talks about his opinions like they’re facts and often belittles the work of far more accomplished individuals. I often say shut up Sean while driving my car. Also, beware of spoilers they often do this by accident and no one thinks about editing it out. Tighten up Craig. Lastly, I still listen to it so what does that say about me. They have good taste in movies and have a true passion so I commend that but all in all it kind of sucks.

More Chris Brandt, no Van Latham…guy is the worst hang ever.

Anytime Bill Simmons, Chris Ryan, or Sean Fennessey is discussing film, it’s absolute gold. Wesley Morris, on the other hand, is pure pain. He severely overly talks and forces himself onto the show and simultaneously does not bring anything interesting to the conversation. He absolutely derails a great Blow Out pod left and right, for example. He’s essentially Deion Waters. All the other guests are solid and provide good input on their occasional episodes.

I can’t take Mallory’s vocal fry. She’s on episodes for some of my favorite movies, but I can’t get ten minutes in. I would rather listen to Van piggyback off someone else’s point, or talk about a woman’s naked body for three minutes than listen to Mallory.

Love the pod on most weeks. Buuut, I’m truly not sure what Van brings to this group other than bringing a race and woke politics into it. The other guests (who I realize are also far left people) all have talent and each have hilarious moments at different points of the pods. Van is a zilch on the show and I’d be shocked if Bill doesn’t already know this, but for obvious reasons he’s stuck with him.

Most of the films they call rewatchable are only rewatchable by the standards of a certain embarrassing set of white film bro. I like the episodes when Amanda or Van join, but they usually only bring them on when the movie has a woman or Black person in it

He tanks every pod that he is on. Why repeat the same take three times. He loves to hear himself while offering up very little.

Never listening to another episode with that guy on. Woof.

Funny that Joel clearly didn’t know the assignment and spent most of the pod roasting the movie and talking about how he didn’t find it funny. Also Bill knows the character from the movie’s name is Alpa Chino, right, like the actor Al Pacino. Throughout the pod he says Alpo Chino without seeming to make the connection

Borderline listenable but often suffers from the same woke revisionism and preponderance of inside jokes that so many movie pods succumb to.

Love the pod! You all do an awesome job. As much as we all love the Carolco Kyle episodes we hope you let Kyle cook more. He has a lot to offer on Rewatchables pods especially with Fennessey and Mallory for example. Seems like a lot of untapped potential for great episodes with Bill Thanks for all the Rewatchables they are all relistenable time capsules of sports and culture!!! (Shea is the best but please re The Warriors)

Just wanted to reply to some of the Van criticism. I like the guy. I prefer episodes with Van. Maybe it’s because I’m from Louisiana, but I appreciate the different experiences he represents compared to these guys from the East Coast. That’s not a criticism of anyone else, just an appreciation of him.

Every time he speaks, I fast forward because his commentary is always about one thing and one thing only.

The show is great but anytime Van Lathan is on it is unlistenable. He just ruins every show he is on. CR fennessy and Kyle Brandt are all great. They have trouble not putting their politics into everything but that can be overlooked.

This show used to be good, but it’s devolved into 90% repetitive inside jokes yelled repeatedly into the microphone. You could literally have a bingo card or drinking game for the tired jokes the tell on every single episode. And anyone who does a Pacino in heat impression for the 1 millionth time should be banned from the show forever.

Stop the screaming impressions followed by the ridiculous laughter. Bill screaming that he had coffee with Macaulay half an hour ago is not funny and his laughter that follows is embarrassing. I love the move Heat and I can’t stand when he does that so I can’t imagine who it’s for. The “would this movie be better with” needs to go away completely. It has more than run its course and is stupid at this point. Depending on who is on the show, I may listen even if I haven’t seen the movie. If Van or Kyle are on I will listen no matter what movie they are doing, although if they are on I probably saw the movie. Other than that, more Sean, a bit less Chris, no Amanda.

I listen to your show all the time. Something is going on with the mics or mix on last few shows. Sounds like everyone is talking over each other.

I love that the episodes are 90+ minutes! Agree with other reviews that the switch to Netflix impacted the quality. I still listen. I just complain about it now.

Brand new fan here. My first was the Cameron Crowe/“Shampoo” episode. This podcast reminds me of Siskel & Ebert crossed with The Sportswriters as Bill and all of the co-hosts and guests create a compulsively listenable experience that is as hysterical as it is informative and engaging. I wish I could join in!

I love the pod, but I am begging you to stop asking ChatGPT to approximate a garbage version of a Roger Ebert review. You’re better than that.

Van ruins every podcast he’s on.

Love the show. Started listening to older episodes recently. The Titanic episode I can’t help but laugh. Nearly a decade later, the podcast hasn’t aged well. A shoutout to Harvey Weinstein mere minutes in is crazy lol. But this was posted just a month before everything about him came out. All that said, I love your show! Thanks for great shows and keeping us laughing

i used to really love this podcast, but the move to netflix sucks. now having to cater to a megacorp and watching what they say is lame. and the AI push in ads and using chatgpt (sinners episode for example) is extremely disheartening and disgusting. makes me feel gross supporting a brand that’s pushing something that’s extremely harmful. really disappointed

I actually had to stop listening when I Lied to You was being discussed by Bill. I just felt embarrassed..and that Michael B Jordon wouldn’t win an Oscar. 🫣 Other that that, from what I heard, it was a great discussion.

Used to have a more authentic feel but somehow listening to it now feels like they’re putting on a show and trying very hard to be entertaining. Maybe it’s the Netflix platform. The Ronin episode was the first one I ever listened to. I was hooked after that, but not so much these days.

Was an auto-listen. Formula was simple: BS/CR/Fennessey + Popular Movie = Gold. Now the new crew is trying way too hard and the movies recently aren’t rewatchable they’re borderline watchable (or I’m just too young and not interested in oldie deep cuts).
