Only Prodigy himself could tell his story any better!
I thought I knew Prodigy’s story very well, since I read his autobiography. I suffer from the same disease, were born only a few days apart in NYC. I grew up in Queens, I didn’t know him personally. I just saw him around Jamaica ave plenty of times. I understand his experience the way only others growing up in that time with Sickle Cell Disease SS can. It makes me even more amazed at his impact on the world in his time here. This podcast told his story so well, only he could do better. You allowed him to tell his own story through his own words, but the input from those closest to him added a depth and more complete picture of how he became the man he was.

True MOBB fan out in Los Angeles.. thank you for telling the Prodigy-MOBB DEEP story. I still feel the loss of P all the time. It’s great to hear the voices of Prodigy’s family & friends as they share these great memories. #ForeverP

Incredibly moving.
Thank you! Respect to the gods P&H. Can't believe someone called this corny! Get lost.

Terribly corny
Too corny. From the strong language disclaimer to the nasally speakers. This should’ve been so much better but fell flat.

Fantastic. Thank you.
Such a sad, yet fascinating story. Amazing talent. The best, and one of the only, part two’s that you could do that may stand up to this would be Guru/Gang Starr. I would LOVE to hear the real, real deal on that whole story. Solar did that man wrong.

Fantastic podcast!
A beautifully made story of Prodigy’s life, his world, his personal challenges, his art, his music, his struggles with a terrible disease, and getting to know him on many levels. Christopher Johnson and Mary Harris bring you right into the details of his life so you really understand where he was coming from and why he lived the way he did.

So awesome!
I didn’t really know anything about prodigy before listening to this series -but it’s not just about prodigy but more so perfectly weaving the history of a wrenching disease and how it impacts and has impacted individuals over time -this was sooo well done! Thank you!

As an African-American physician and avid 90’s hip hop enthusiast...THANK YOU. Bias is everywhere, and this made this abundantly clear. Hopefully this comprehensive look of his life becomes a documentary for the masses.

Perfect
This was a great light shone on Prodigy, Mobb Deep, Queensbridge, and the extreme challenges of living with sickle cell anemia. Thank you for putting this condition in terms that people can truly see. I really believe this podcast brings it out of the abstract for those not directly affected, in addition to telling the story of a gifted man through the people that love him. I also really enjoyed the music. I listen to so many podcasts and this one was great to listen to on the F train as I commute in and out of Queens. Passing through Queensbridge now touches my heart in a new way. Thank you to the reporters and producers of this series for all of your hard work.

Really Real
This podcast is important for a ton of reasons. Prodigy was an Icon and deeply impacted those of us who grew up listening to hip hop during this pivotal time. Sickle Cell is a disease that affects so many of our young people and the fact that this show spotlights it, it huge. Thank you to all those, that made this happen. The closing song touched me. We lost a great one. Rest with God, Prodigy.
Personality Mom
Deeply concerned about the ethics of exposing a recently passed person’s medical history
...without explicitly telling the audience in what ways the producers and journalists have sought and acquired consent from the family and estate of Prodigy.

Heart of Queens
Moved to Queens as a teenager solely because of Nas and Mobb Deep. No joke. Still here, and forever. P is a legend and this disease needs to be understood. Thank you for creating this podcast. The loss of P still hurts and this emphasizes his pain. I don’t know much about it all, and I’ve been learning ever since he passed. I’m shook...rest in peace, P!
