I was so thankful to have this very real and open conversation with this couple. We ask some very raw questions about growing up being black and being gay. How did their own families adjust or NOT adjust? Sometimes within our own community of family, we are more judged, than by others outside of our direct circle. We hear two very different viewpoints from both of these women. Also, has things changed for them? Do they still feel stigmas when out and about in their very own hometown of Colorado? We are willing to have these conversations to learn, grow and understand. It sometimes takes learning about the adversities that some individuals go through and have had to overcome before we can make changes in our own thoughts and how we view people.
