Sit back and enjoy what you would actually like to read to your child after a long day of homeschooling but can't.....  I wish this book was around back when my kiddos were little!

Mr. Mike is a friend of mine who is always discussing the makeup of our government when we get together.  I thought it would be a great opportunity for others to benefit from his astute knowledge of our United 'Republic' of States -  the one most people don't even realize we have.  Sit back and gain a different aspect and view of our government.  Share this with others, for I learned a lot I didnt know!

It's been a while since Pete has been in the studio.  On the front end of a birthday lunch after the podcast, we discuss raising our kids after our divorces a year later.  Subjects of coping, opinions, pink crocks with blue socks and the kids already know chime in during the podcast.  Just to let you know ahead of time - this show does veer off the beaten path of raising canes.  Somehow topics of divorce and cheating snuck in at the end.  Leave it up to Pete to take me there!  But, that is where the ride gets interesting.  Enjoy!!

Emma returns to the mic and brings her daughter Meagan.  Discussing millennials was a definite treat with all three of our views being all over the place.  Getting off topic every now and then, we were always able to relate it all back to the millennial topic/problem.  Meagan, a hard-working nurse and millennial, provides us a look from within her experiences with friends and family.  We did all agree that an important component of keeping millennials on the straight and narrow was having some skin in the game.  Some level of responsibility teens to keep them more focused.  Keep their eyes on the prize, please!!  Thanks, ladies, it was a blast.  Got to get Amanda and Trevor in the studio soon!

New to the podcast arena welcome mother/daughter team Myrna and Audrey.  Man, they started off slow but eventually lit up the podcast studio like roman candles.  My gut is still hurting from laughing even though they have been gone for hours.  I'll have to get another interesting subject in order to get them back on the mics.  I saw so many similarities between our three children.  I summarized that the pecking order does play a part in raising children.  A podcast any parent should not miss no matter how old your kids are.  It was a definite treat to have them visit.  Come back soon... Scott agreed to have an impromptu podcast concerning the generalities of raising kids.  I have known Scott for over 25 years during which time our kids grew up together.  We do start off by agreeing that there is no owner's manual to raising children.  His views on hard work, commitment and consequences flow side by side with mine.  It was great getting Scott on the mic and look forward to having him back real soon. Due to the sudden nature of the podcast, I decided to leave a lot of the miscues at the beginning in.  Something different to listen to.... Enjoy....

Along with Emma, who is new to the Raisin Canes Podcast, Patty returns to talk about getting your child from high school into college.  Emma and I have both done it twice and Patty once.  So, we do have some knowledge to share.  But, on the other hand, we do realize that college might not be the best choice for everyone.  A vocational or trade school is high up on all our lists.  Grab some of our insights if you have a kid finishing up high school soon!

Connie stayed for one more podcast and talks about her experiences helping raise her 6 nieces and nephews.  We both agreed that kids need to experience another point of view and perspective other than their parent's all the time.  She and I both have a history of being able to enjoy and spend time with other relatives on a consistent basis when we were young.  We cherish those times.

David Jr. returns to the mic after a long hiatus.  Home for the holiday, we discuss his highs and lows living in NYC.  His views on parenting and raising kids are very interesting.  The threat of putting me in a home later in life makes me rethink my future plans for him. (LOL)  But, all in all, it was a fun and enlightening podcast.  Still proud of him and all his past, present and future accomplishments.  Destined to do great things.

Connie contributes her experiences on caregiving to the podcast.  Having taken care of her dad give her a definite inside view on the subject.  Exploring topics of family helping out, the perfect storm, being a patient advocate and having a beer at the last rites all come into play on the show.  I fee that all caregivers have a very unique tale to tell.  I hope to keep the 'caregiving train' going with others on the mic.  Thanks, Connie for sharing.
