As a guest on this podcast, what I liked about Tobias is that he asked questions that required thoughtful answers. I found myself contemplating quite a bit before answering. I appreciated that.

I enjoy some episodes of other Python podcasts, but I enjoy every episode of this podcast. Tobias’ expertise and experience allow for a level of depth that makes his podcast stand out.

At first it was hard to get into the podcasts, now it’s one I look forward too. He asks really good questions. It’s easy to tell Tobus does his homework. The only suggestion I’d give is to pause for an answer between each question. Every question seems to be two distinct questions for the guests. Maybe it is so the guests can speak to what they are most comfortable, but each of the questions are great and would be good on their own. Overall, I would highly recommend to anyone with a technical bent and especially a pythonic one.

I agree that the delivery is a little flat but this guy asks really thoughtful questions. I’ve been listening for over a year and like I said, keep listening. Watch your guests levels though. If the levels are too off, I move on.

I love the content, but the host’s flat delivery is hard for me to take especially during the intros and ad reads.

The phone call quality is often horrible and makes it hard for me to listen. At least make the voices have an equal volume.

As much as I wanted to listen to the wide variety of guests, the host kills it all. Tobias is horrible at speaking even one sentence. Just compare this podcast with the talk python podcast by Michael Kennedy. He’s a great host. You can gauge this by the kind of reviews that both podcasts have.

This is a great and highly informative Python podcast, with consistently interesting guests who present thoughtful content. The conversational tone of the show makes it enjoyable to listen to, and although earlier reviews talked about the poor audio quality, the audio has been much better for a long time now.

Just started listening to Podcast.__init__. Great episode on Python and GIS! Good audio quality and very good discussions between host and guest.

Podcast __init__ is a great podcast about what is happening in the Python community. The content and guests are great. Sometimes it seems highly scripted instead of more of a conversation, but this may be just my interpretation of it too. I would recommend for anyone interested in Python.

I teach beginning Python courses at a university and I consider Podcast.__ini__ to be a vital part of my own learning and preparation for class. Thank you Tobias and Chris for helping me learn more about the community and ecosystem.

The best podcast for documenting the currents and attitudes of the python community, and a close second for the best podcast for giving developer insight. (see talk python to me).

Please get better sound equipment!! It is almost unlistenable.

I love this podcast mostly since it actually does what it says in the name itself. I love to hear from all the folks that make these awsome packages that I use on a daily basis and get motivated to write some myself. Voice and audio can be improved, but that comes with sponsorship...! I like the picks that they do at the end of the show.. but definitely need some work on the audio. It has improved greatly... but keep this going Chris and Tobias..!

Really variable production quality, some episodes are pretty decent and a bunch are poorly mixed (hosts are loud, guests are inaudible), gain is high on the hosts so they sound fuzzy. Essentially if you turn it up enough to hear the guest, you'll be deafened by the volume of the host. I'm going to take a break for a while because it's an auditory roller coaster.

I REALLY wanted to like this podcast. The topics are interesting, the host is great. But the audio quality is just dreadful. If it improves I'd love to start listening again.

This is an update to my earlier review. The volume is mostly balanced now and no longer hurts the ears. The only issue left is that each person’s volume is a bit different. The guests’ volumes are still a bit too low.

The content is good, but the audio levels and quality for the hosts are awful. The guests audio comes through okay, but the hosts sound like the are using bad 80s cell phone from the bottom of a well.

Highly informative interviews.

I liked the first few episodes. Excited to see more Python podcasting in 2015.
