In this episode, I realize how the meme of money as used in our capitalist consumer society greatly limits the field of engineering, forcing it to design things, from our infrastructure to household items, in a way such that they break and need repair or replacement on a regular basis. In a resource based economy, however, engineering would be encouraged to realize its true potential to aid humanity with long lasting infrastructure and household items.
