This is my favorite podcast. Good conversation. Great content. I usually listen when walking. Sometimes I start laughing out loud. Other walkers wonder if I’m crazy!!

Hey Dopes!
Electability??? No the election won’t come down to 1000 people in Pennsylvania. Biden won Pennsylvania by 81,000 votes. Despite you two dopes saying Biden should drop out in 2020 before South Carolina he got 81 million votes beating Trump by 7 million on his way to flipping five states plus Nebraska CD2. He has proven he is America’s best bet to beat Trump. Whitmer? Newsome? Please! Maybe one can be Kamala’s running mate in 2028.

Bill Walton
Bill Walton on David Halberstam and his book the Breaks of the Game is one of the best podcasts I’ve ever heard. I didn’t fully appreciate Bill’s storytelling ability after hearing him call games but that was amazing. Makes me want to read the book and then listen to this one back.

Smug Personified
Curtis owns one of the more distinctly unpleasant laughs in podcasting. He opines in his faux-humble Texas drawl about the lunacy of the world all while contributing nothing of substance of originality. His take on the meme culture around the pop-tart and mayonnaise bowl games signifying blind allegiance to brands was laughably out of touch and frankly idiotic. People enjoy the patent absurdity of the marketing—they aren’t mindless sheep as much as your journalistic credentials will have you believe you’re elevated high above the rabble of rubes. At least make-a-wish shoemaker didn’t taint this latest pod with his mealymouthed milquetoast contributions. If you’re gonna be smug at least have some dickish charm.

Are we reading the same Washington Post? Twitter fights, and article ratios each time their “columnist “ pens anything. But let’s keep wondering why they are losing money. Just my 0.02

Used to be better
Insightful and important angles to cover. However, seems like half-adding it since David went down to once a week.

Love when Jason Gay is on the show. He and Bryan have excellent chemistry.

Solid but
The co-host literally says “mmhmm” every 5 seconds and it’s incredibly annoying, actually makes it hard to listen to

Press Box in the Best
The absolute best podcast on media. I love the jokes, interviews, and analysis. All around a great listen!

Great Podcast
Great podcast! One I look forward to each week. One minor complaint. Please consider removing the sounds that are behind Bryan Curtis’s voice on Weekend Headlines. Adds no value and makes it almost unlistenable.

Reporters
If the reporters caught the additional media out there, they’d realize Coach Prime stated him and that reporter have some history. When they lose, Werner can have his say. However, it doesn’t have to be now, at least for Prime.

A refreshing take
So many similar takes and dialogue on podcasts lately. Refreshing study on current culture and media with a high sports IQ. Appreciate it!

High quality pod
Brian and David put on a high quality and unique pod. I think Brian’s interviews are second to none, they feel tremendously well-prepared and they put the guest in a good position to say something substantive without putting them on the spot. I think it is clear that the guys lean towards the dems and away from the gop, BUT, I think they make that clear enough throughout the years. As a result you have sufficient transparency with them and that’s all I really ask for - it’s on us to be educated listeners. The Benjy Sarlin pod on the first republican debate helped me better understand the candidates and primary dynamics without being overly “political” - I look forward to The Press Box helping us process how the next year is going to go down!

Love the pod
But can y’all listen to the pod before you put it out. All the ringer pods jump around. I’m not an audio engineer or anything but seems like a problem that can be fixed.

All of it
Sports, entertainment, news, politics … This is the BEST media-industrial-complex podcast out there. Knowledgeable, easy-to-listen-to hosts who comment with authority about all things press-related while keeping things in perspective.

It's in overdrive at the ringer apparently. If only the media covered career politicians with the same non-objectivity and censorship.

Less Politics, Please
Love this podcast, but PLEASE talk less political stuff and more sports/interviews. The politics is so draining and your sports stuff is much better.

Media? No. Sports? No.
Political podcast where they both agree all the time, YES!

Great Pod
This is one of my favorite podcasts, mainly because David and Brian seem so at ease with each other. And Brian’s recent interviews with celebs in the sports and media worlds have been fantastic. One quibble, though Brian: how could you interview Uncle Verne for an hour and NOT ask about the Laetner shot?

Promising podcast
Smart show, enjoy the hosts, but liberal to a fault. In the recent “Stleter” podcast, going on about how FOX bended to Trump’s will, implying this was singularly awful. But it’s basically what MSNBC, CNN, etc do for Biden - the Hunter Biden story, CBS News recently pulling a story about US arms not making to frontline in Ukraine. Fox is the other side of same coin. Network/cable news overall deserves equally harsh criticism.

Fantastic Finebaum Episode
Absolutely loved the Finebaum episode. Great content and awesome questions asked along the way!

Needs an Objective Counterpoint
Bryan and David are too often the same person, which makes sense given that these guys are lifelong friends. That said, I often feel like I am listening to a one-man conversation… there is no point/counter-point, and there is no attempt to genuinely see or understand other sides of a story (as evidenced by the “I think that’s right” trope). These guys are the Brian Stelter of news media podcasts: critical of the Right, soft on the Left, and biased in the topics they choose to cover and not cover.

Have you considered asking Soledad O’Brien on? Love the podcast but Jake Sherman was pretty dismissive to her concerns. Not sure that’s appropriate

Memorable
Yeah it’s an awesome podcast from The Ringer. Listen to learn the latest trends, headlines and what it all means. Thoughtful discussions on current events, and the audible quality is great. Great bond between the hosts. Great interviews.

Comments on Gabby Petito story coverage was cold and twisted
In discussing the coverage of Gabby Petito’s disappearance on a recent episode, Bryan and David discuss the parallel story of “missing white woman syndrome”. Fair point to make. But instead of considering the two existing stories in parallel, they said there was much too reporting on Gabby’s death as opposed to just too little of the other. Some of the points made were cold, insensitive and in some cases outright bizarre. Consider: 1) David referred to the reporting of Gabby’s disappearance and death as “insignificant”. Hmm. I wonder if her parents would agree with that. 2) David said that there were “hundreds, thousands and maybe millions” of people who disappear and whose story is not reported. Millions? Really? If millions of people were disappearing every year with no explanation, I think someone would have covered that. 3) David also said that there were over 700 indigenous people reported missing in the same state where Gabby disappeared, suggesting if not outright saying there was a racial tint to the coverage. My question would be this - regardless of race, how many of those 700+ people were aspiring social media influencers who was last reported to be seen by her fiancé who suddenly appeared without her? I’m not saying race wasn’t an element in the Gabby coverage but to blindly ignore all the other reasons the story got interest (other than true crime podcast coverage) is simply ignorant. One last question - would David feel comfortable making all of his points directly to Gabby’s parents? If the answer is yes, he has no heart. If the answer is no, then he shouldn’t have said then the way he did. Does Bryan feel the same? He didn’t raise any objections or corrections. Unfortunately, Apple doesn’t allow no star ratings.

Mmm hmmm so annoying! Are you trying to be like The NY Times dude. Terrible! Episodes without David are great

Super Interesting
Love the views on media and coverage of different events and such a great rapport between David and Bryan.

Where you at?
The biggest gossipy story regarding sports media is years and it takes you 4 days to do a podcast? People (like me) want instant or close reactions, this story is 4 days old, what don’t I know now that I did 4 days ago? The ringer used to be on the ball, since Bill cashed in, the site and the pods have been lackluster.

Good pieces
Curtis is trenchant and soothing, Shoemaker meanders. Enough mispronunciations for a drinking game. Good recurring bits, usually interesting interviews.
Skunkle Dave
Stelter is pure propaganda
That dude is a mockery of journalism... was he brought on ironically? I can’t tell. And such is the beauty of the two hosts ;)
very much woke
Smart and entertaining
It’s amusing to me how many folks get angry about this show, especially since the underlying vibe is poking fun a media tropes. Nobody is being forced to press play, but if you do, you have to be able to process a non-fantasy version of the world we live in. Keep up the great work. I enjoy the interviews very much.

So woke it hurts
I used to find this show smart and entertaining. It’s just too hard to listen now. The recent episode about the Atlantic article on liberals struggling to quit the pandemic was a classic: hey maybe you’re the butt of the joke. Relax. This has become an echo chamber and if you’re woke and into that, enjoy.
