6: Extraordinary Stories Series - Charli Wall
When I began this podcast, my deepest intention was to share with you the extraordinary stories of ordinary women like myself and you as I've always thought that fact was always stranger and more interesting than fiction. This episode is the first of a series of interviews with women who mean a lot to me. The stories are both interesting and intriguing and they are shared by midlifers with a tale to tell. To kick things off, I’m joined by a wonderful soul, Charli Wall to tell the tale of her midlife transition. Charli is a life coach, counsellor and addictions and anxiety specialist who helps women to feel secure, confident and happy in their body. Charli Wall is someone I’ve only met a handful of times but who makes my heart feel good. Some years ago I ran into Charli in the airport, at the start of her massive midlife transformation. After a series of traumatic events, Charli reached a defining moment in her life and sold her business, her house, all her belongings, and decided to travel to India and around Europe for several months, with her intuition as her guide. Charli’s journey from that point to embracing her authentic self, doing radical deep work, and becoming a physical and mental health coach helping other women is what she’s here to share. I know you’ll get so much from her story of midlife transformation.   Highlights Events surrounding Charli’s defining moment The miracle of the healing spirit How Charli found the Three Principles Charli’s life-changing revelation Charli’s lessons from her trip to India and back home How Charli has transformed her life The power of showing up authentically Finding a place of deeper understanding Charli’s message for midlife women in deep discomfort   Find out more at https://ThePowerYearsProject.com/e6

5: Why Your New Life Will Require a Different You
“If you want a new outcome, you will have to break the habit of being yourself and reinvent a new self.” That’s the main message in Dr. Joe Dispenza’s groundbreaking text, Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Create a New One. Every few months, I dive back into this book and each time I find a new depth of wisdom and understanding. My latest foray prompted this podcast and I’d love to share with you the goodness and wisdom I found this time. Every single person I work with wants to rid themselves of self-defeating habits and thoughts. But what has to be explained and impressed upon nearly everyone I work with, is that THE MAGIC IS IN THE MICRO. Attention to the micro, getting still, self-observation and getting to the origins of long-held beliefs eventually brings those long-desired MACRO SHIFTS and continuing that ‘work’ will make those shifts stick. In this episode, we’re talking about moving past understanding these principles simply on an intellectual level to actually embodying them. As always, I want to help you dive deeper so I’m sharing three simple, yet powerful, transformational tools I’ve been using with clients recently to assist them in their journey to creating a new reality for themselves. Highlights Why I keep returning to Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself The gradual birthing of your next manifestation How to achieve long-lasting macro shifts Benefits of learning to remain in the present moment The stacking power of incremental changes Savouring The Moment Gratitude Notes and Visits How these transformational tools can help you Widening Your Lens   Find out more at https://ThePowerYearsProject.com/5

4: Why Do We Say Yes When We Want To Say No?
Why are we afraid to say no? This is the short question with a long, deep and wide answer that we’ll be diving into. For me, the reason you say yes when you want to say no all boils down to a FEAR OF BOUNDARY SETTING. But the problem with boundaries is that we have to be TAUGHT how to do boundaries well. That means that you learned early on from your caregivers’ actions what boundaries in action look like but after months and months of listening to clients AND MYSELF, I’m not sure that ANYBODY has been modelled ‘good boundaries’. That’s left many of us in a pickle, unable to clearly express our wants and needs without fearing the feedback of the person being ‘boundaried’. In this episode, we’ll be unpacking the constructs of Fawning, People-Pleasing, Boundary Setting, Authenticity and Authenticity vs Attachment theory in order to get to the bottom of this problem so we can start getting ourselves out of that pickle. To help you delve deeper, there’s also a mini-workshop within this episode to get you started on your path to knowing yourself and voicing your boundaries. Make sure you have a pen and paper handy before we dive in for the best results! Highlights The core reason we’re afraid to say no What it looks like when we go into “fawning” mode When we start to develop the tendency to fawn The steep price of fawning What our early caregivers teach us about boundaries Why you need to voice your boundaries Learning how to communicate your boundaries well Why authenticity matters How authentic are you? The connection between authenticity and happiness How to get out of the fawning and the self-abandonment ‘yes’ trap   Find out more at https://ThePowerYearsProject.com/4

3: Why Core Values and Core Beliefs Beat S.M.A.R.T. Goals
So many women come to coaching because they have a dream for their life and their work but they’re then surprised to learn that that's NOT EVER where we start. S.M.A.R.T. goals presuppose that all we need is to know WHAT TO DO. But where most people stumble is in the initiation or consistent execution, eventually reverting back to the habit they were trying to kick. That’s because this ‘thing’ of changing our deeply rooted habits, thoughts and perceptions is an INSIDE FIRST, OUTSIDE SECOND job so any coaching modality that goes straight to S.M.A.R.T. goals is probably not going to have long-lasting results. This episode is a sample of part of the Therapeutic Coaching process that I journey through with clients. Here I’m going to introduce you to the inner work that creates the foundation for achieving your outside goals. We’ll start with tapping into your INFINITE POT OF GOLD so you can root out unhelpful core beliefs that hold you back. I’m also sharing the exact grounding exercise that’s the FIRST STEP for doing anything and everything in your life that you want to do well. Then we’re going to go through the key questions you need to ask yourself before diving into the work on building your dreams. When you’re ready, grab your pen and paper and head somewhere quiet. Let’s get into it!   Highlights What my soul-centred, rooted-in-science process looks like Why starting with S.M.A.R.T. goals is probably a bad idea How you can find the unhelpful core beliefs holding you back What compassionate inquiry looks like in action Where the concept of S.M.A.R.T. goals was developed The clash between corporate-based S.M.A.R.T. goals and your woman essence The POTENT SURGE of feminine energy created at Midlife Why your core values must be at the heart of any business you create The actual grounding exercise I use with my clients as a critical first step Key questions to help you start the process of understanding who you are and what you want My seven core values Where the real work lies Why I’m so passionate about Midlife Transition Coaching®   Find out more at https://ThePowerYearsProject.com/3

2: The Science and Soul of Midlife Rage with Guest Thea Baker
It goes by a lot of names, ‘mood change’ in Midlife, MenoRage, Angry Woman Syndrome or as I like to call it, Midlife Rage. But the fact that you’ve clicked on this episode tells me you’re already familiar with the concept. Whether you’ve found that you’re not the ‘fun-dolly’ you used to be or you’re going from 0 to 100 in the blink of an eye, this episode is for you. We’re getting to the bottom of the question “Why are midlife women angry?” by splitting it into two parts: the science and the soul. In the first segment, I’m breaking down the science behind what’s happening in your body in midlife. We’re looking at the interconnected ways that serotonin, your hormones, gut health, stress, diet and lifestyle contribute to your mood change. For the second segment, I’m going to be joined by my dear friend and colleague, Thea Baker, and we’ll discuss the socio-psycho-spiritual aspects of this phenomenon and offer some practical solutions that we can all take heart from. Thea is a counsellor and body-based (somatic) psychotherapist with special interests in all aspects of women’s health, trauma and couples/relationship therapy. In her therapeutic work, she works collaboratively with her clients to find a place of healing and recovery. I’m so excited to share this information with you!  Researching this has been TOTALLY FASCINATING and I know that if you’re going through this right now you’ll truly gain some insight and hopefully food for thought for your own situation. Highlights The Science The major role serotonin plays in your mood How declining estradiol impacts your serotonin levels The connection between gut bacteria and mental health Why chronic stress is considered a risk factor for mood pathologies Vitamin D as a key player in the production of serotonin The deep impact of a chronic lack of quality sleep Key considerations for going vegan Why being touched in the right way, at the right time produces serotonin The Soul How Thea’s lived experiences led to the work she does now Where many years’ worth of accumulated resentment goes The compounding problem with trading your authenticity for fitting in Getting to the edge of the cliff around 50 Our opportunities to reinvent ourselves Why Midlife women need a radically different approach to nutrition and fitness Coming out of fear and dropping into your body How we’re impacted by slow progress in gender roles at home The cumulative effect of our 24/7/365 role in the home Unlearning the manipulative storybook narrative Feeling trapped because of a lack of financial power How many women minimize issues with their pelvic health Why I feel that suppression of authentic expression is the origin of so much disease Simple practices you can use to start to work out these issues Why it’s essential to create a plan and a new map for this territory   Find out more at https://ThePowerYearsProject.com/2
