Episodes with the women
Mike, you have been hitting out of the park with all the women you have interviewed over the past year, Wendy Fisher, Ingrid Backstrom, Rachel Burks, Michelle Parker, Maggie Vosin, Elyse Saugstad, to name just a few. The range of topics from racing, big mountain skiing, the Olympics & to bathroom issues with a toddler have all been amazing. Keep it up, it has been RAD. I think we need a Mikayla Shiffrin, Breezy Johnson or Jackie Passo episode soon.

Flatlander Love
One of the best, if not the best, podcasts out there in the outdoor industry. As a current flatlander in North Dakota that yearns for his earlier days of mountain life, The Powell Movement keeps that part of me close. The variety of guest across eras, disciplines, both sides of the lenses, and athletes to business is what keeps the history alive and a part of the future. Thank you, Mike. I enjoy it every time. The best
Mike has had almost everyone on and consistently gets the best interviews from his guests. The guests (mostly) get pretty comfortable with Mike and are able to have a dialogue which makes for an easy listen. I say mostly because when it seems like the story makes someone a bit squeamish he still asks the question. Keep them coming bud.

Refreshingly brutal
I stumbled on this podcast about a year ago and have really enjoyed it. I have been in the industry for 25 years and I love the brutal questions that are asked from time to time about what people earn, bad decisions that were made, good times etc. the industry is full of super passionate people which are its greatest asset, Mike Powell is one of them. Thanks for digging into real peoples stories

The skiing podcast I was looking for
I’m a new listener and recent transplant to Seattle from Colorado. I am getting used to the skiing here and have been following Ingrid Backstrom’s career for a while. Finding your interview with her helped me feel psyched about skiing out here and it’s great hear from women in skiing! Love the show and appreciate your honesty.

Still the best
I was introduced to the Show by a couple of ladies sipping Fireball on chair 2 in Vail. Was skeptical to say the least but here I am still listening 4 years later. Mike does an amazing job with the interviews but also makes you feel like a friend is telling you the story of these amazing athletes.

The Nearly Complete Modern History of Snow Sports
While I completely enjoy the thorough and well researched interviews with the wide selection of the modern who’s who of snow sliding, I’m surprised by one general omission. Not just a who, but an event–a frozen counter-culture, a gathering of the fastest maniacs, and the wildest party goers north of the Nevada desert. Arctic Man. The venerable treasure trove of inappropriate shenanigans. This once great skiing and snowboard meets snow-machine event has attracted olympians, derelicts, chicken-costumes, and often times the combo of all three. While a win at Arctic Man never sent anyone home rich, it certainly sent them home with other less-than-desiarble part(y)ing gifts and stories. Stories that would last a lifetime if given the place in your podcasts hallowed halls of records (or if anyone actually remembered them…). Beyond that, keep on doing what you do!

Never Miss
Powell is my never miss podcast every week. Anyone who enjoys the outdoors or has interest in the industry, this is a must. He does a great job of covering it all from putting you into the moment with an athlete on a mountain and finding out the work it took to get there. The next week he’s talking to the industry insiders who run the company’s funding those trips/events and pulling back the curtain on what it takes to build and sell the items to fund these athletes adventures. Powell’s interview style really allows the subject’s personality to shine though and puts you in the middle of what feels like a conversation between two friends.

Must Listen!
First off, Mike is the absolute man. Keeping composure in all interviews and asking questions that all skiers want to know while remaining kind and humorous! Guest list is second to none, and the podcasts never get repetitive as each guest brings a fresh perspective that Mike manages to pull out. And just a note to Mike, we’re all thinking about you and your family in this tough time and it’s so admirable that you continue to spread stoke throughout it all.

Top Notch
More than just a ski podcast, and more than just great guests, Mike is an A+ interviewer that brings out the best in his guests. His vulnerability is also refreshing. See you on the slopes Mike.

Consistently great!
I’m a skier. I started listening to the Powell Movement because I was looking for ski content, and I was interested in some of the interview subjects. What I didn’t know when I started listening was that I’d find myself looking forward to the podcast each week, regardless of the guest or topic, and I think that’s comes down to Mike’s talent as a host. Mike is an excellent and entertaining interviewer, and he seems to get the best out of almost all of his guests. The time he puts into researching and preparing for interviews comes through in the quality of the content he puts out every week. I can’t think of another podcast I look forward to as much as this one, and I can’t recommend it highly enough to anyone who is interested in action sports or anyone who is just a fan of entertaining discussions between interesting people. Mike, I really appreciate the work you put in to push out such high quality content week after week. I’ve never met you, but you seem like a great guy, and I’m rooting for you and your family during what must be an incredibly difficult time for you.

Always interesting no matter the guest
I’ve been listening to this podcast for several years now. I love how Mike steers each interview, allowing for the listener to really learn about each highlight of each guest’s life/career. Even guests I don’t have interest in are worth listening because Mike always seems to cleverly pull out the good stuff. That makes for a great podcast. There’s something about his cadence in an interview that always grabs me. Nice work.

Long time listener, first time reviewer
Mike’s podcast with people I have never heard of are the most interesting. Just finished the one on Azikiwee Anderson and I had never heard of the guy before. But, what a story and it’s great to hear the different paths people can take in there life for success. Will keep listening every Monday!

It’s like a finding an old Polaroid….
Mike, I’ve been listening to your podcast since Nobis called me last may and told me to check out his first episode… The guests, the questions, the research, the inappropriate questions…. It’s all great. So far you have interviewed 3 of my friends and you’ve nailed it every single time! The stories are great and it’s fun to reminisce, considering I’ve heard or experienced some of these stories first hand. Keep up the great work!

Almost a listener from Nobis
Was going to be a regular podcast listener and even purchase some Stanley products based on your Nobis interview. But then you had to go off against proLifers. I don’t believe in the cancel movement but I can follow your advice and spend some more time in church and not listening to you.

“Wow, you really did your research!”
I look forward to Monday morning every week for one reason only, and that reason is The Powell Movement. This podcast takes a deep dive into the lives of action sports athletes and executives from every sport imaginable. One week it’s a pro skier, next it’s a mountain biker, followed by a rollerblader, then back to snow we go… and every episode is just as good, if not better than the last! Most of the time these days, it’s someone I am not even familiar with, and that doesn’t matter one bit. As someone who spent their whole youth chasing down rogue bike trails and getting kicked off school campuses for skating handrails, but now has a boring 8-5 career, it helps keep my stoke level high each week. My favorite thing is that Mike really goes the extra mile in his research leading up to the podcast, and the guests are always blown away by it. For anyone contemplating taking the TPM plunge, Mike always brings good energy and thought provoking conversation to the table, and I’m thankful for the content this podcast provides. You would be too.

Best podcast in snow.
Long time listener first time reviewer…. Mike, wanna start out by saying I absolutely love the pod - 5 stars. Your ability to always say the wrong things at the right times has me cracking up every week. However I have a bone to pick with you on this latest episode. You referred to the Legendary Donny Pelletier as “Donny PelletE-eh”, you need to make amends for this oversight by having Troy on the podcast. @donnypelletier207 is this generations living embodiment of Saucer Boy and Troy has stood on the World Cup podium

Thank You for a Great Podcast
Mike, thank you for a great podcast! I stumbled across your podcast recently and have been catching up on past episodes. Each episode is inspiring it is own way, and each guest brings their own stories which you find a way of bringing to life in intricate detail with your thoughts and meticulous research! Great Podcast
Mike, love the podcast, have been listening since I found “sponsored” a few years ago. I have ventured out and listened to a few of the other podcasts like TPM, most of the time can’t make it through an episode. The others tend to talk way too much, and unfortunately about themselves taking away from the athlete they are talking to. You really let them get their story out, well done. As a midwesterner who spent a year in Squaw many years ago and awaits our annual trip to the mountains, I really enjoy listening to your podcast and the stories surrounding this sport we all love. Thank You!

Best Ski Podcast
What better of a way to take your mind off skiing while at work, by listening to a ski podcast at work! Mike has the ability to show how human these athletes are, he makes them feel approachable and I like that. Mostly I believe this is due to his interviewing skills he keeps the humor alive while asking a lot of hard and at times personal questions and I doubt these athletes would be willing to answer those question if it was someone other than Mike.

Mike Powell
Best podcaster out there. He nails it in his interviews . Super entertaining and informative! Thanks

Not the same old interview
Mike does an excellent job making the interviews unique and interesting as the athletes on the media tour tend to play the same set list on every podcast, not here on the Powell Movement.

Simply the best
Mike is a fabulous and insightful interviewer. He clearly has the the depth of knowledge in all facets of the ski / snow sports world, which is entertaining and insightful. But his conversations are well planned and his research of his guests is tremendous. You get a full and entertaining conversation to enjoy every time - easily one of the best podcasts around and the best in this genre.

Ditch the politics.
At the beginning of the episodes Mike goes off complaining about stupid political topics and whining about how his privileged life isn’t as good as he wants it to be. Once you get past that part the interviews are reasonably interesting. There is room to improve on the questions and flow of the interview/conversation.

Loved the Hattrup interview
Just finished listening to the Mike Hattrup interview from 2016. Really enjoyed it! I skied with Mike and the other guys from “The Goon Squad” when they spent the winter at Squaw Valley. In fact, I competed against Mike in a King of the Hill event at Squaw that year. It was around 1982. He got first; I got third. I almost beat him in me first run…but we both fell and had to do another run. By then, I was pretty hammered and Hattrup kicked my butt. Anyway, I doubt that Hattrup even remembers that day but I sure do. Anyway, thanks you to The Powell Movement for spotlighting the legends of the Action Sports world. Excellent job ! You’re the man! Lovin’ the industry OG’s
The athlete interviews are cool and inspiring, but I’m lovin’ hearing from the salty industry folks about the paths they took to build their companies, build their careers, and live the dream! I could have used this podcast 30 years ago when I was searching for a dream job. I’d recommend it to anyone looking to get into a snowsports career.

Blurring the lines between Snowsports & Dirt Sports
Mr Powell does an excellent job of curating rad interviews about all the things snow and dirt - covering everything from the business side of things to the inside scoop with the athletes who are performing for the masses. Keep it up!

The Oral History of Skiing
Michael Powell takes the listener deep inside many of the iconic figures who make up the heart and soul of skiing, snowboarding and other action sports. While everyone who appreciates mountain culture will enjoy this excellent podcast, the Gen X skier who grew up in the age of Plake and Schmidt and were there when the likes of Douglas, Nobis, Kreitler, etc changed the sport will especially love it as those same ski heroes expand upon the exploits they read about in POWDER or watched a billion times on VHS. The Powell Movement is not only highly entertaining, it is a needed chronicle of the history of our sport and lifestyle.

Just Better than the Others
I have 2 kids, and we are always on the way to ski comps. Mike takes some of my hero’s and helps introduce them to my kids in an interesting fashion that my girls will listen to. The podcast creates communication, and laughter when they can’t listen to the music I want to anymore. Keep it coming.

I love this
Mike is one of the best interviewers I’ve listened to. He does his research but then let’s his subjects talk. Always has super interesting people on the show. Best action sports podcast in all the land!

Very engaging!
I recently took my son to his first freestyle comp and decided to listen to a few episodes while on the road. It was amazing to hear the stories of guys like Alex Hall and Birk Erving as we headed to and from the comp. We loved hearing how they started their careers and was super inspiring for my son. I’ve always appreciated the uncensored view Mike has and though some language may not be mom approved for my 9 year old we laughed the entire time. Keep it up Mike and see you on the hill.

Way too many good things to say
The questions are sharp, hard hitting and to the point. The deep level of research and Knowledge that Mike brings to his podcast is unmatched in the podcast realm. I also appreciate how intune Mike is with his community and the people. He cares and holds a high standard.

Mark Abma Episode
The Abma episode 1 is awesome. You never know what to expect even after watching all the MSP films and reading articles, but Abma sure seems as cool as he is in the films. And Mike thank you for so succinctly and accurately describing the current terrible situation at Stevens Pass this year (and last year too). I sure wish a solution to wrestle Stevens away from Vail would be easy. Maybe convince Seattle’s tech titans to fund making Stevens a non-profit like Mt. Spokane and send Vail back to Denver?

Action Sports Howard Stern
Though he wouldn’t say so himself, Mike Powell is a good journalist who asks hard questions and doesn’t talk about himself too much. He keeps the focus on his guests, who other than me, are the best skiers and riders and action sports stars on the planet. The best thing about this pod is that the episodes aren’t timely so go back and listen to some of Powell’s best shows.

Mike Powell: The podcast host who gets it
When I first started listening to Mike Powell, I was a little turned off. The money questions seemed like advice to prospective Instagramers. However, it's more evident that it's more about creating real-world contexts for the past and present to tell an oral history of skiing (and other action sports). The pros were definitely gods in their day, but what does that mean? What sacrifices did they make? And how does that compare to today? Mike's podcast make this real in both past and current contexts! This epiphany struck while listening to the Evan Raps episode. Evan Raps was on my first cover of Freeze, where I was a nerdy kid thinking he was a god, and now he's now a doctor, like the rest of my family. Mike's research and questions made this story come to life! This was clearly all Mike too: Dr. Raps, with all due respect, do not give up medicine for podcasting. Someone else may have glorified a single part of Dr. Raps story: partying while skiing or becoming a doctor. Instead, Mike let Dr. Evan Raps tell his own story: it was neither idealistic nor a fall from the heavens, it was a change of heart. A more impactful story than any contrived dramatization. Keep it up Mike!

Best part of a Monday
The Powell Movement is a huge boost for me to attack the week harder and harder. Mike has an incredible ability to break down barriers with his guests and create an organic and interesting conversation. As a graphic designer for Wagner Custom this is a great way for me to gain more insight into the ski industry, along with other action sports and keep me motivated. My favorite part however is hearing about what happened to my heroes such as Evan Raps after they disappeared from view. Thank you for all this content Mike, keep up the great work.

A podcast that I actually find myself partaking in the conversation 👌🏻
I discovered this podcast roughly 3 months ago (sept-2021) spent a lot of time traveling and burned threw about 90% of the available episodes. Im a Navy veteran and night groomer at Okemo in Vt. Mike’s knowledgeable history, questions, and general gruff language are personally very appealing and I often find myself on long drives and late nights actually answering some of the questions out loud and participating in the conversations(even if no one was there to listen to me 😂). Overall amazing podcast and eagerly wait for each weekly episode now. My only request as a groomer is there are probably some really cool stories and amazing mountain history in the grooming/ snowmaking side of the industry. Could make for a couple good episodes 🤷‍♂️
