Winter means cold. It's time to lock your pools down into winter-mode. Call your local pool technicial and ask the to do a winter maintenance service and grab some good quality copper-based algicide to protect the water in the cooler months. BUT DON'T TURN IT OFF ALL TOGETHER!!

Episode 9 - “Extreme Weather Pool Cleaning” Now, in Sydney in the past few weeks we’ve had the weather go from one extreme to the other from near on 50 degrees of stifling heat to last week’s horizontal rain and floods!! Sadly this type of extreme weather really affects the pool.   The searing heat tends to burn off all the residual chlorine in the water leaving it vulnerable to bacteria and algae growth, whilst excessive rain tends to mess with the PH and alkalinity levels and dilute the chemicals. Once again, this leaves the water vulnerable to bacteria and algae growth. It can also cause run-off from garden beds and even from neighbours land which can be deposited in the pool.

A pool that requires no maintenance, no chemicals and no cleaning. It sounds great doesn’t it, I know I’d like my pool to be like that, and I can’t imagine anybody who wouldn’t!!  Unfortunately this type of pool is a myth!! It simply does not exist.
