Do you want to learn to think more deeply? To understand the Hellenistic culture of the New Testament world more deeply? Do you want to grow as a speaker, thinker, and defender of the gospel? In this week’s Polymath Pastor Minute Erik will look at the Euthyphro, a short dialog by Plato that works as an easy introduction to reading Greek philosophy. Learn what the dialog is, why you should care, and a few tips for reading Ancient Greek literature.

These Mini-sodes seek to offer short times to give you resources from books, podcasts, episodes of podcasts, websites, online courses and other resources to help you in your search to grow and expand your polymathy as a Pastor. Or anybody who wants to listen and learn. In this first episode Jeramie talks about one of his favorite podcasts, Popcorn Theology. This podcast is both for entertainment, as it is a podcast for the geek who wants to geek out on hearing peoples thoughts on their favorite movies and t.v series. But it is also an opportunity to learn how to think about the shows we watch and learn to think deeply about the worldview significance of a movie or show that is presented and also helps a person see Christ and his world in all our entertainment. For God is the greatest storyteller of them all. This can be a good resource for Pastors looking for illustration ideas as they are in sermon prep. ENJOY.

In this Episode we discuss a book by Tim Keller called The Freedom of Self-Forgetfulness.
As a pastor we not only need lots of skills to be better ministers but we also need good reminders on where we put our worth. We talk about the idea of Pastors not only need to preach the gospel but how they should apply it to their own hearts. And also about not putting our purpose and worth in our ministry but in Christ ultimately.

In our first episode we answer the question: What is a polymath by reviewing Peter Hollins' book: "Polymath: Master Multiple Disciplines, Learn New Skills, Think Flexibly, & become an extraordinary Autodidact." We talk a little about why polymathy is valuable for small church pastors (or anyone who wants to grow as a person). Talk to us on twitter at @PolymathPastor or email us [email protected]
