This week on The Pokémon Snapshot, we’re opening up the vault for a Snapshot Rewind! Travel back to the early Kanto days with Jeff and Tyler as they break down one of the most chaotic, high-seas capers in anime history: "Battle Aboard the St. Anne."
After scoring free tickets from a very suspicious pair of oversized schoolgirls, Team Ash boards the luxurious St. Anne cruise ship for what turns out to be a bustling Pokémon trainer convention. But the party quickly takes a dark turn when Giovanni’s commandos launch an all-out heist to vacuum up every Pokéball on board, triggering a multi-tiered cheerleading squad of counter-attacking Pokémon and a massive offshore storm that threatens to send the entire vessel to the bottom of the sea.
In this episode, Jeff and Tyler dive into:
The Unsinkable Jinx: Comparing the doomed cruise liner to the Titanic, roasting the captain's cowardly "lifeboat inspection," and questioning why anyone ever uses the word "unsinkable."
The Magikarp Multi-Level Marketing Scheme: Dissecting James falling hook, line, and sinker for a smooth-talking salesman's billion-dollar fish pyramid scheme.
The Infamous "Tradesy-Baxy" Kid: Ash immediately regretting swapping his loyal Butterfree for a gentleman's Raticate, sparking childhood flashbacks of grade-school playground trading drama.
Cheerleader Combat Pyramids: Wondering why the ship’s trainers decided the most tactical way to fight off Team Rocket was by stacking Pikachus, Charmanders, and Bulbasaurs like a national spirit squad.
Paramilitary Rockets & Secret Lairs: Breaking down Giovanni's shadowy debut, his pampered Persian, and Team Rocket's surprisingly disciplined salute routines.
The "Who’s That Pokémon?" Deep Dive: Everything you ever wanted to know about Raticate, from concrete-toppling incisors to Alolan restaurant taste-testing lore.
