Who is...Colin Bennie?
We are so pumped to share this week's interview! This week's focus of Who is...? was Colin Bennie, a pro runner for the Reebok Boston Track Club based here in Charlottesville. In the fall of 2018, Colin was one of our assistant coaches. Last Sunday, Colin finished 3rd at the Marathon Project in Arizona, running 2:09:39 for the marathon, which is a crazy 4:57 pace! This ranks Colin #14 all time on the American list and the 3rd youngest American to run this fast. Colin is as humble and nice as they come which makes interview amazing. Enjoy!

Episode 22: Who is...Hari Mix (Albemarle Distance GOAT)?
This is a MUST listen! Hari Mix is maybe Albemarle's most accomplished distance runner of all time. He graduated from Albemarle in 2004 as a state champion and school record holder in the 3200m (8:56) and 5000m (15:03). He went on to Stanford where he became one of the of their best runners and was an All-American in the 5000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships! In this interview, Hari discusses how he was introduced to the sport in elementary school and how he fell in love with it as a freshman at Albemarle. We get to hear about the early days of Panorama Farms and get an honest look at the ups and downs of Hari's high school career. We learn about how a random Jerry Senifield documentary changed Hari's mental approach to the sport as a sophomore at Stanford. Hari talks about how injuries led to ups and downs in the latter years of his college career and ultimately cut his career short. We get to hear many fun stories of Hari racing against or practicing with some of American's all time best distance runners. But more than anything, this is an inspiring interview that shows you what hard work and a great attitude can lead to big things!

A History Lesson with Coach Weisend
We recorded this podcast this summer for our website with the legendary Albemarle coach and history teach, Lance Weisend. Coach Weisend coached at Albemarle from 1983 to 2009, and he taught at Albemarle up until two years ago.  There are many Albemarle cross country traditions that Weisend started that continue to this day.  Two of these traditions, camp at Graves Mountain Lodge and the course at Panorama Farms, are the main reason why a lot of you run cross country every year.  We discuss the origins of both of these traditions in detail.  We learned so much from this interview and we know all of you will love it.  It is a must listen!!
