What Got You Here May Not Be Enough To Take You There
The Pastor Gadget Show

* Your gift or talent may get you in the room…your ability to learn and develop your craft will allow you to stay there.
“I am always doing things I can't do — that's how I get to do them.” - Pablo Picasso, Spanish painter, sculptor, stage designer, poet, playwright
“Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.” – John F. Kennedy, 35th President of the United States
“We now accept the fact that learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn.” – Peter Drucker
* Leaders are Learners
* It puzzles me when people won’t take initiative to learn new things
* If I don’t know how to do it, they won’t ask me…
* Get a bigger toolbox
* Have as many tools in your toolbox as you can.
* Develop in the area of your gifting
* Your gift or talent may get you in the room…your ability to learn and develop your craft will allow you to stay there.

“He who thinks he leads, but has no followers, is only taking a walk.” John Maxwell
If your leadership is based on building a deep foundation, this season can be one where you will excel.
If your worship leadership is built on having a crowd in front of you, you will have a shallow foundation that will crumble.
*KEY THOUGHTS*
1. Know the room you’re leading
2. Know what success looks like (and be comfortable not being able to see it)
A couple tips for connecting:
1. This isn’t a performance
2. Give them hope and something that will encourage them in their faith.
3. Keep eye contact with the camera and a comfortable posture but DON’T BE CREEPY
4. Picture a person/family that needs to hear what you are singing.

The Balance Between What’s Now and What’s Next
In our society, we are bombarded by information. There is always “the next thing” that will increase our productivity, our quality of life, keep us on the bleeding edge of technology.
<pre>Of course, I want next year to be better than this year
If there is a new technology, I going to try and pre-order.
Whenever there is a new phone releasing, as soon as the keynote is wrapping up, you can hear people (of course, it’s not you or me that we are talking about) coming up with reasons that the current phone is not working and needs to be upgraded.
In Memphis with family, I stood in line and Waited to get the iPhone 2.

Philippians 4:11 (NIV)
I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.
Phil. 3:12-14
12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
• What do you do when you are looking forward to “what’s next?”
• Do you become discontent?
• Do you start finding everything wrong with where you are now in life, ministry, relationships and Everything right in someone else’s life, ministry or relationships?

What are the goals that you have for 2020?
Spiritual goals
Life
Health
Family
Professionally
ACTION STEPS:
1. LEARN FROM WHAT WAS
You can learn “what to do” or “what not to”
Experience is a great teacher
2. BE PATIENT WITH WHAT’S NOW
If you have plans to get healthy in a month, binging for the next 3 weeks is not going to get you closer to your goals!
3. LOOK FORWARD TO WHAT IS NEXT
“Where you are at right now is not all bad; and where you are going is not going to be all good”.
ex. In ministry settings:
There is a reason the grass is greener…it gets plenty of fertilization
