After graduating from Ohio University in 2002, Christina moved out to the West Coast to become a food and lifestyle writer, then went on to culinary school at the New School of Cooking. Today she runs Sweet Greek Personal Chef Services and recently returned from a trip to Sicily, where she was studying Italian agriculture and cuisine right up until the tipping point of the pandemic. Alex Sheen: Founder of Because I Said I Would
You know you’ve made it as a Bobcat when you end up on President Nellis’ speed dial, and that’s exactly what happened to OU alum Alex Sheen. In 2019, President Nellis tapped Alex to be the commencement speaker at OU, where Alex had graduated with a business degree in 2007.Alex is the founder of Because I Said I Would, a unique social movement and nonprofit that fathers the betterment of humanity through promises made and kept. Maggie Downs: Author of Braver Than You Think: Around The World on the Trip of (My Mother's) Lifetime
It’s a brave new world for 1998 OU graduate Maggie Downs, whose first book is being released *today*! Braver Than You Think: Around the World on the Trip of My Mother’s Lifetime relates that tale of Maggie’s yearlong global journey in honor of her mom, who at the time was in the late stages of Alzheimer’s Disease. Not only did she fulfill her mom’s bucket list, but Maggie had plenty of adventures along the way — including hiking the Inca trail, volunteering at a monkey sanctuary in the Bolivian jungle, rafting the Nile, listing temples in Cambodia, and much more. Maggie took the time to speak to The OU Bobcast about her time at Ohio University, where she first honed her writing chops at the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism, and beyond — having made her way out to Palm Springs where she has forged a unique creative path as a journalist, author, and world traveler.
