Episode 96: RAD
We're back! It's been too long since our last episode, but Rad Day is here and we couldn't let it go without celebrating it properly. What is Rad, you ask? Rad is every 80s sports movie you've ever seen, wrapped up in a package of BMX bikes, cheesy butt rock and more synthesizers than you can jump a bike over. It's ridiculous, it's kinda lame, but's also so completely RAD. Helltrack is coming to town, and our hero Cru has a chance to prove to the BMX world he's the best racer around. And, in the process, he manages to woo Christian, a racer from a professional team who also happens to be played by a pre-Full House Lori Loughlin.  Anyway... It's Rad! SHOW NOTES FOR THIS EPISODE: Rad is available to stream here The Charm Kings' "Caught Up in the Crossfire" Libby's second novel "Negative Girl" is out now! Episode 95: 1995 Soundtrack Misfits
We're back! For our 95th episode, we bring you a collection of soundtrack cuts from 1995. It was the height of the 90s, when 80s pop stars showed up in the most random movies, fledgling rock bands popped up on teen cult classics, and also Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh Eagles teamed up with Lita Ford to do the theme song for a RoboCop TV series. 1995 was definitely a mood... Also appearing in this episode: Tom Jones covering Lenny Kravitz for the Jerky Boys movie, The Proclaimers covering The Everly Brothers' "Bye Bye Love" for the movie Bye Bye Love, we get a few cuts from Green Day, Wax, and Salt N' Pepa. Also Bryan Adams performs the drippiest, horniest song ever written... Ladies and gentlemen, this is 1995.   SHOW NOTES FOR THIS EPISODE: Jack Black in Bye Bye Love Tom Jones performing "Are You Gonna Go My Way" on The Tonight Show INTRO/OUTRO: "Dance Rocket" by Jesse Spillane MUSIC VIDEOS: "There's A Future To This Life" by Joe Walsh & Lita Ford "Moonlight" by Sting Have a soundtrack you'd like us to cover? Follow us on Twitter @OSTParty and let us know!Or email us at [email protected]

Episode 94: Airheads
Hello all you OST Party fans out there in radioland! Are you ready to rock?!  On this episode we're looking at the 1994 comedy AIRHEADS! Adam Sandler, Steve Buscemi and OST Party fave Brendan Fraser are The Lone Rangers, a down and out LA rock trio. In a last ditch effort to land a record deal, they take a radio station hostage and demand to have their music heard.  The movie may be a grim foreshadowing of FM rock radio's future, but the movie's a hell of a lot of fun. And the soundtrack is pretty neat too. We get a slammin' opening credits song from Motorhead and Ice T, a weird Smiths cover from Anthrax, an even weirder Van Halen cover from Four Non Blondes, and naturally, the #1 hit single from the movie's own Lone Rangers! So strap yourselves in and get ready to rock! SHOW NOTES FOR THIS EPISODE: Airheads available (for now) on Hulu The Immediate Family Brendan Fraser, Adam Sandler Airheads Reunion Billy Joel Wants To Start His Own Traveling Wilburys INTRO: "Dance Rocket" by Jesse Spillane OUTRO: "I'm The One" by Van Halen MUSIC VIDEOS: "Born To Raise Hell" by Motorhead, Ice T & W. Episode 93: FM
We're ringing in the new year with a film we've been wanting to cover for a long time. It's the 1978 cult film FM, about a Los Angeles radio station fighting back against The Man with some of the coolest rock jams of the 70s. Or at least, that's what the movie is supposed to be about. Mostly it's an excuse for Martin Mull to ham things up while they shoot a Linda Ronstadt concert. And maybe we'll get celebrity cameos from Tom Petty and REO Speedwagon along the way. It's barely a movie, and not even a good one at that. Really though, FM is more famous for its soundtrack album, which is absolutely STACKED with some of the top rock hits of the era. We get two cuts from Steely Dan, including that excellent title track, as well as songs from Bob Seger, Boston, Foreigner, Boz Scaggs, and a whooole lot more! So put on your denim jackets and let's rock & roll! SHOW NOTES FOR THIS EPISODE: FM is available on DVD, or you can watch it on YouTube More about Hard Rock Park For more Steely Dan, check out our episode on Me, Myself & Irene INTRO: "Dance Rocket" by Jesse Spillane OUTRO: "FM (Reprise)" by Steely Dan Have a soundtrack you'd like us to cover? Follow us on Twitter @OSTParty and let us know!Or email us at [email protected]

Episode 92: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
We may have missed Halloween, but so what? On this episode we take you back to sunny Los Angeles for a look at the soundtrack to 1992's Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the feature film blueprint for one of the most iconic TV series of the 90s. This soundtrack is pretty typical of what you'd find on a movie soundtrack in 1992. You've got the requisite covers from artists like Divinyls and Mary's Danish, the sensitive guy rock from Matthew Sweet and Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Cult and Ozzy Osbourne giving us a couple of random metal tracks, and hey why not, have some C+C Music Factory! So throw on your leather jackets and sharpen your stakes, because it's time for some Buffy! That's right, OST Party mainstays Oingo Boingo are back for another college comedy. (Man, we just can't let Teen Wolf Too go, huh?) Episode 90: Remembering Pee-wee Herman
This week we mourn the passing of the incomparable Paul Reubens. His most famous creation, Pee-wee Herman, taught kids of all stripes that there's beauty in the weird and kitschy parts of the world, and that just because we grow up doesn't mean we have to stop being silly. And throughout his career, Reubens incorporated lots of music into the Pee-wee persona. So on this episode we'll take you through the musical history of Pee-wee Herman. We'll start with his 1981 stage show, dig into his three feature films, and highlight some of the strange places Pee-wee has popped up along the way. Who knows, we might even make a pit stop at the Alamo! SHOW NOTES FOR THIS EPISODE: Pee-wee Herman on The Dating Game Pee-wee in Cheech & Chong's Next Movie "Reggae Christmas" by Bryan Adams Pee-wee performing "Surfin' Bird" in Back to the Beach Pee-wee's appearance at the 1991 MTV VMAs Have a soundtrack you'd like us to cover? Follow us on Twitter @OSTParty and let us know!Or email us at [email protected] And join our Discord channel and come chat with us!

Episode 89: Coneheads
Greetings bluntskulls! On this episode we celebrate the 30th anniversary of Coneheads! Wayne's World proved there was a market for SNL comedies in the 90s, so naturally here's a movie based on the Coneheads, space aliens from the planet Remulak just trying to fit in among regular humans. It's basically an excuse for Dan Aykroyd to be a big weirdo for 90 minutes. And the soundtrack is equally weird. We've got a handful of really great, classic tracks (including an inexplicable hit single from the Red Hot Chili Peppers), a couple of really great cover songs, as well as one of the worst cover songs we have ever covered on this show. And, of course, Dan Aykroyd has to have a song too. A land of contrasts, this album! Episode 88: The X-Files: Fight The Future
It's been 25 years since The X-Files jumped to the big screen! The first of two features based on the show, Fight The Future is The X-Files as a big-budget summer blockbuster. There's alien conspiracies, explosions, races through cornfields, killer bees for some reason... There's a lot to unpack with this film. And naturally, it came with a pretty stellar soundtrack. The usual suspects of mid-90s rock are all here, including Foo Fighters, Tonic, Better Than Ezra, Ween, and more! We even get a couple cover tunes, courtesy of X and Filter which, honestly, the less said about that one the better... Anywho, join us as we try to navigate 90s conspiracy theories, David Duchovny thirst traps, the bitter nostalgia for our early teenage years, and a whole lot more! In a future wasteland where water is worth more than gold, Lori Petty teams up with Naomi Watts to steal a tank, befriend some kangaroo people, and save the world from a robot-armed Malcolm McDowell. And along the way we get a Cole Porter song, a movie rap courtesy of co-star Ice-T, and all kinds of tunes from some 90s alt-rock greats! So strap yourselves in, because this soundtrack takes no prisoners!
