Lifestyle entrepreneur Amar Ghose talks about the digital nomad life, and travelling the world as both the means and the end in itself! What do I mean? I mean Amar started travelling as a way to SAVE on expenses-- the Bay area, while being tech-central, is not very pocketbook-friendly. He gave up a lot to live the life he wants to live, and ends up meeting his future wife in Thailand! It’s beautiful how we can “connect the dots” in hindsight!
He shares “the reddit post” that started it all! More importantly, Amar takes us behind the scenes of ZenMaid and talks about his “bias towards action” that is both a strength and potential weakness. Just overall a really great convo that led to places I never would have imagined! We even found a way to tie poker in with business and life! Last but not least you don’t wanna miss Amar’s book recommendations (and even taught us how he personally “reads” 2-3 books per week!

Laotian-American fighter Andre “The Asian Sensation” Soukhamthath is a father and a fighter… AND so much more. He’s an inspiration to many as well as Andrew Yang’s favorite fighter (ex-democratic candidate in 2020 presidential race). Get a sneak-peek behind the scenes of the mindset it takes to win fights as well as getting back up after a loss. Andre talks about having “heart” as a fighter-- and I think this is a great lesson for all of us to “bring it all” and to give it our best, no matter what it is that we do. He talks about many lessons that apply not just to fighting, but business and life in general. Haters, trolls, confidence, mental preparation... I forget we’re even talking about “fighting” given how well these concepts apply to real life. Be prepared for your “opportunities!”
Overall, my favorite line: “don’t be a bitch, just do it…”
Also: “if you’re in it for the money, you’re in it for the wrong reasons…”

“The man, the myth, the legend…” Okay how else do I introduce the man? Co-founder of the Asian Hustle Network (AHN), Bryan Pham, shares with us the secrets to growing a large Facebook group, and more importantly, the mission and vision for the sprawling “network.” It’s grown well-beyond just a simple Facebook group. There is a large team running things behind the scenes. Why does the Asian American community need AHN, more so now than ever?
They grew so fast that Bryan said they became “victims of their own success” (good problems to have, right?). You’d think any business would love to have this problem! He discusses what challenges face a group of (at the time of this writing) almost 70,000 members and counting!
And, as would be expected from a guy who encourages being “open and vulnerable” as part of the culture of his group-- Bryan returns the favor by being open and vulnerable in this episode! We very much look forward to what’s next in store for AHN!

William Hung Interview w Ryan Higa - Poker, Crypto, Pandemic, Chasing Your Dreams, Joe Rogan Apology
“It’s okay to fail as long as you tried your best” -- William’s Mom
Join us with special guest William Hung today. You may know him from his claim to fame from American Idol over 15 years ago-- but you may NOT know what he’s been up to since then, or why his current passion is ONLINE POKER!
He shares his many instances of overcoming adversity and continues to chase his dreams, which is currently poker! See why “king-four-offsuit” is his favorite hand, how he recently won $20,000 in a poker tournament, and why you don’t have to pay taxes on bitcoin (until you cash out that is). William is a “lover in training,” motivational speaker, poker coach, and I’d like to think, one of my new good friends.
P.s. ...sound off in the comments if you read this far-- Does Joe Rogan owe William Hung an Apology?

Peter & I drink beer and discuss Asian fusion music while drinking Asian beers. How much do independent artists make on Spotify, Patreon, what other platforms are out there, and what is the platform of the future? How does an Asian man from white suburbia make it in Jazz and what racial issues must be overcome?

SHOW LESSAs Angela and AJ tell me about how their passion project (app) aims to increase emotional awareness for kids, I wonder if I can use the app too! Shit, even adults need to get on this train! A gamified RPG interface makes learning about mental health fun-- exactly what we need. I mean a quick glance at the screenshots of the app already makes me want to play this "game." I learn what a "visual development artist" is (AJ's role). Angela (founder) shares her personal reasons for developing this app and the interesting journey that's brought this unique team together.

p.s. they are debating whether "Calm Koala" is a better name than "Calm On" -- while I like both, and there are merits to each, "Calm On" works better for adults and "Calm Koala" works better for (6-11 year olds), their target market. Tell us what you think in the comments!

Wow! Where were you when I needed you back in college Aisen!? The title basically says it all-- he coaches Asian men how to attract beautiful women. Let's be honest, I'm an Asian man so I can speak from experience-- we generally just suck at the dating game. A lot of this can be traced back to our culture, being raised "Asian-style," full of negative reinforcement and low self-esteem tactics. It's kind of sad when I write about it this way but I think a lot of Asian men can relate. Our parents tell us to "go to our room and study" compared to white kids who socialize more.
In this episode, Aisen shares some of his dating secrets as well as a lot of entrepreneurial tactics!
