Hi I just leasoned to the 1st ep and I am a non binary I wear masculine and feminine clothes like you I still figuring out my identity I hate it when people call me a female I like die on the inside when people call me a male I won’t care if I being called non binary it makes me happy but shouldnt I be mad if people call me a male and female I only get mad and or hurt when people call me “she her hers lady girl” and when people call me “ he him his they then theirs it yes no “ ( don’t mind the last 3) I don’t mind when people call me that it’s just keep me away from being called a girl so what am I?

I learned so much and felt encouraged by April and Beecher’s story. Plus the hosts are fun to listen to!

This podcast was such a great listen! As a straight, cisgender, exvangelical (who grew up in the same area where Beecher and April met…and actually attended the same university), this podcast was both relatable and a valuable learning experience! I’ve really enjoyed this podcast. April and Beecher are very adept at telling their story with kindness, humbleness and vulnerability. I found it very engaging to hear from a couple who were a part of an evangelical church community and then went through years of discovery about themselves and their backgrounds. I, myself, am not Christian now but I appreciate knowing there are Christians who are progressive. Vivid storytelling. Well paced story arc. Relatable.

As a deconstructing former evangelical myself, this podcast offers a viewpoint and perspective I was never privy to growing up in my conservative bubble. I learn something new every episode and am challenged to be more inclusive and loving because of April and Beecher’s honesty and vulnerability!

I’ve listened to ten episodes at this point and I can genuinely say my heart has grown a couple sizes. We have a gender non-binary child and I’m so thankful for affirming voices in my life. Love and empathy, it’s all you need ❤️

I absolutely love how their relationship has evolved and pivoted with each new challenge. How both of them have risen to the occasion of all they have faced and continue to support and uplift one another. April’s unabashed truth sharing is refreshing as she deconstructs her faith and supports her partner through their transition to living their authentic truth. The roadblocks they encountered have been monumental but with love and compassion they move mountains. Beecher is amazing in the way that they own the mistakes they made, explaining the “why”, even if the “why” makes them come across as unkind in the moment. Owning our mistakes and apologizing for them can be so hard, but they do it with raw sensitivity and own how their behaviors affected their partner. It breaks my heart that Beecher thought they had a demon that needed to be prayed away, they did not. Listening to their confidence grow as they accept themselves and realize that God made them perfectly, Beecher slowly becomes the partner to April that she has always deserved. As they accept themselves I love how April encourages and loves the happier, more confident, and genuine Beecher that emerges from the years of hiding they had to endure. I’m so happy that they no longer have to live in a closet of shame because closets can be dark and scary places and these two are meant to shine. Thank you for sharing your story.

Although I identify as a CIS white female, I am at 52 just into the beginning of deconstruction and learning to untrain my brain from my conservative republican christian upbringing. I raised 2 millennials and 1 on the cusp of Gen Z and 2/3 of my children are part of the LGBTQ+ community and it helps more than you know! Such a Godsend!
