In this episode of the Night Keep, I got my good friend, Mark Bogner to ride shotgun with me as we enjoy a laid back talk fest. We talk horror news such as the new Castlevania series, Friday the 13th cancellations, and since I was with "Mr. Tangent Bound" - well - tangents abounded. My main reason to get him on the show was to get his history and perspective on starting up a podcast, plus his newest ventures in microphone manufacturing. Sit back, enjoy, and hopefully you will have some fun listening vicariously to our meanderings.

Thank you for listening to the Night Keep podcast! I get to chat with John Brhel again, this time about two new books from this dynamic duo at Cemetery Gates Media, plus I find out there is a third book! What we have here is straight-from-the-author's-mouth discussion on "Marvelry's Curiosity Shop" and "At the Cemetery Gates - Year One". This interview was recorded the weekend before Christmas, and I have been unable to get this thing posted until now, and for that I apologize.John Brhel and Joseph Sullivan are among my favorite authors, now. I have read 3 of their offerings, and each book is unique and compelling. These guys get anthology horror, and they do it exceptionally. Welcome to The Night Keep. This is a very special episode wherein I get to speak with one of my musical influences and heroes: Council Of Nine. Council of Nine is the musical offering of Max Olivier and I have been a fan of his work for a couple of years. I fell down a wabbit hole and discovered the Cryo Chamber Dark Ambient label, and one of the first albums I listened to was “Dhakma†by Council of Nine. Along with having a very ominous and awesome name, Council of Nine (and all of the music on Cryo Chamber, as a matter of fact) focuses on cinematic dark ambience, evoking moods and imagery through soundscapes.ARCHIVED EPISODE - MAY 2016I am thrilled to be able to sit down and chat with Max about his music, his inspirations, and as our conversation progressed, we quickly discovered we have many of the same interests.Council of Nine can be found on the Cryo Chamber BandCamp and website. As always, if you are an indie horror creator and would like to be on the podcast, please let me know.Follow on Twitter – @TheNightKeepWant to hear the music of The Night Keep? ARCHIVED EPISODE - MARCH 2016Welcome to The Night Keep… only this time, it’s not about horror – unless you consider trying to be an independent publisher – in that case, then this panel might be a little scary. Just kidding. I was blessed with the opportunity to have a booth presence at my first convention, Agamacon in Aiken, South Carolina. I was also incredibly blessed to meet many new friends and connections living in my area – and they are all creators, as well. I hosted a panel, a “Dannal Panelâ€, if you like. My panel was “Indie Publishing – Get Your Creations Madeâ€, and this is a recording of that panel. I am still overwhelmed by the amount of talent that was present at my panel, as well as staggered by the positive feedback. It went so well, I wanted to share it with everyone. I hope something is said that might be of help. I do ramble, so there is your warning.I admit it in the panel, and I mention here as well: I am no one special, nor am I trying to give any air of conceit. I merely feel that I may have an insight in the indie publishing scene that people may not be aware of. I also wanted to hammer in my positive influence on as many people in one setting as I could.“Don’t you EVER let anyone tell you what you can’t do.â€The audio quality is a bit… okay, it’s not that great at all. It was recorded on a Tascam DR-07 with a lavalier mic. It’s also my first panel. Cut me some slack.Remember, as indie creators, the deck is stacked against us, but we do have resources. USE Google. The width and breadth of human knowledge is at our fingertips. USE it. Also remember, Twitter is free. Here are links to the sites that I mention in the panel. With my favorite 4-letter f-bomb where applicable. \m/Fiverr.com (freelance people do jobs starting at $5) Book PublishingCreateSpace (upload your ebook to Amazon. FREE)Bookbaby.com (upload your ebook to lots of places. Not so free)Crystal Lake Publishing (they often have open submissions for horror writers)– If you don’t write horror, use this as a guide to find a similar publisher in your genre. FREE; commission is taken out of each sale) Audio Book / Music Publishing / Blog / Reading ChannelBandCamp.com (FREE; commission taken out of each sale)SoundCloud.com (FREE; 2 hours free, then tiered subscription service) MiscellaneousHumbleBundle.comGroupees.com (bundling site; maybe get your book/music/game in a bundle with similar artists) If I can help in any way, feel free to hit me up on Twitter – @TheNightKeep or @ThroneOfAnguishOr find me on the web – nightkeep.com or throneofanguish.com
