The Nerds
The Nerds
Flying Lizard Studio - Jon Robertson
The Nerds are a group of people who like to come and talk about their favourite things. This is anything that involves comic books, video games, movies, television shows, or anything else under the nerdy sun. It can't be nerdy unless we can talk about it.
The Nerds: Star Trek Discovery
As the new year rolls around, we get the second half of Star Trek Discovery.  Jon, Lindsay, and Miles talk about what they taught about the first half.  It's not your normal Star Trek, and that's probably a good thing.  It's time to change how we tell our Trek stories, and something that is more of a reflection of our current day, instead of times decades ago. If you're a Trekkie or a Sci-Fi Nerd, come join the discussion and let us know how you feel about the new Star Trek, and how you feel after you've had time to digest the first 10 episodes. If you want to hear more of The Nerds, subscribe to our podcast on iTunes and Google Play.  Leave a rating and a review it would help us out a ton.

The Nerds Podcast: Spider-Man Homecoming
It's great to finally have Peter Parker home with Marvel. The Nerds sit down to talk about the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man flying back into the MCU.  We all loved the tease we got with Captain America: Civil War, and now we get the full Spidey treatment.  We also go off on a tangent about the potential Spider-Man has to affect the other movie franchises.  How is Venom going to work into the Marvel Cinematic Universe? If you love great acting, great movies, and great story telling, Spider-Man: Homecoming is a movie you should watch multiple times. It was an amazing movie, come join the conversation and let us know what you thought about Homecoming in the comments down below. The Nerds Podcast: Wonder Woman
It's a bit late, but it's here.  The Wonder Woman Podcast, there was a bit of technical trouble with the recording.  We were able to save it, and thank goodness we did.  We were blown away by the quality of Wonder Woman.  It was the superhero movie we have not had in a while.  Lindsay, James, Miles, and myself break down what we thought was great, and what we thought could have used some work.  Spoiler, we thought it was damn awesome. What did you think of the Wonder Woman movie?  Is this the opening we needed to see more female super hero movies?  Could this lead to a Black Widow movie?  Will this get Marvel to put more fuel into the Captain Marvel movie?  Let us know in the comments below. The Nerds Podcast: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Family will always give you trouble, it is a constant through the universe.  In James' Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, we get that in galactic spades.  The Nerds review what happened in the movie, and why Volume 2 made Volume 1 a better movie. There was a lot packed into the new Guardians movie, with a lot of layers.  We look at the themes of family, and we look at how they leaned into the hokey.  Guardians Vol. 2 owned what the movie was, and played it to perfection.  We got more 80's space opera, with a lot of character development.  If we were looking for more depth to the characters in Vol. 1, we had a lot of satisfaction after the end credits rolled for Vol. 2. Sit back, relax, and join the conversation about Guardians Volume 2.  Did you see the movie?  Where do you rank in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Was that a fitting send off for Yondu?  Let us know in the comments below. It's going to be a full festival of events, one of the best things you can do to help yourself navigate all the panels and events is to download the Guide Book app for TCAF.  You can find the download link here: www.guidebook.com. This will get you all the information you need to traverse the festival and check out great panels like the D&D Panel at the Mariott, or the Comedy & Comics panel at The Pilot. The Nerds Podcast: Iron Fist
Vini, Vidi, WTFici? Marvel's Iron Fist has been out on Netflix for more than a week now, and oh boy.  Let's be honest, even Hank Aaron struck out a few times.  There were a lot of troubles in Iron Fist.  You could focus on the script, the acting, the lack lustre fight scenes, the technical aspects of the series, the pacing, the plot, look it's a long list.  It needed some work to not only watch, but to dissect. The Nerds gathered 'round ye ole microphone to share our thoughts on this series.  It wasn't pretty, and we haven't been this disappointed since The Fantastic Four podcast.  It wasn't all bad.  A lot of of it was, but there were some small glimmers of hope in the whole series.  If you need a comparison, it would be like a grain of hope hiding on Daytona Beach.  It's there, but you have to go digging for it. At least we have The Defenders coming up in the summer time.  Let's hope that Mike Colter can pull up Finn Jones from what Iron Fist was.  Maybe it was rushed, or maybe just wasn't planned out well, but Iron Fist is what it is. If there is a positive to pull from this whole thing, it's this: When you're at the bottom of the ladder, there's only way to go.

The Nerds Podcast: Logan
The Nerds are back, and we are tackling the recent X-movie, Logan.  It was a great end to a story that lasted almost 20 years.  The big question is, is this the last time we see Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart play their iconic roles?  The Nerds go over how it stands up to the rest of the movies, and where it falls within the X-lore for the Fox Universe.  We may also get side tracked a few times. We have a new theme song, brought to us by the amazing Neil Gray.  You can check out his talent on his Band Camp website here, you can also check out his band, The Fools.  They do some awesome covers and make some great songs.  Go check them out and give them a listen. Iron Fist is next up on Netflix, after that we have a Women in Gaming podcast, as well as a DM's/GM's podcast to take more gaming.  March is going to be busy.

The Nerds Podcast: Star Wars Rogue One
It's a new year and it's time for a new Nerds.  We gather round ye ole' microphone to discuss the latest chapter in Star Wars mythology, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.  Needless to say, spoilers are in effect for this podcast.  Let's be honest, we gave you a ton of time to watch the flick. This movie was a needed addition to the franchise.  It gave a nice palette cleanser from the prequels.  It also did an amazing job of making Vader scary again.  The last time Vader reached a level of treachery that made some spines shudder was in The Force Unleashed.  It's good to see the Sith Lord making things ominous again. If you enjoyed the podcast, then please leave a rating and subscribe so you can catch the latest episodes.  We are working on a 2016 What Was Awesome Episode, as well as getting ready for the mid season return of all our favourite nerdy shows.  CW, I'm looking at you for some awesomeness.
