Some of his roles include working with the England U15 national squad, supporting 20 Premier League players with mental conditioning support and delivering on the UEFA Pro and A licences for the Scottish Football Association.His book educating football received international press coverage and acclaim that led to Steve being a guest on the ‘High Performance Podcast’, BBC Radio 5 Live, Talk Sport, The Daily Mail podcast, and Love Sport Radio. Series 2 Episode 5 (Part 2) May 2022We are delighted to be welcome one of the most respected Sporting Directors in World Football for May's Coaches Corner; the role of the Sporting Director with special guest, Steve Walsh.Steve's career includes senior recruitment roles at Chelsea and Newcastle prior to moving to Leicester as Head of Recruitment / Assistant Manager that of course led to some incredible signings (incl Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez) and a Premier League winners medal. Steve moved to Everton in 2016 as Sporting Director before leaving Goodison in 2018.Steve was appointed as Special Advisor to new MLS expansion team, Charlotte FC in early 2020 and has helped the club recruit an entire squad (or roster) from scratch for their debut MLS season in 2022.We'll be delving into both Steve's experience of what a Sporting Director actually is, how to develop as a scout and/or Recruitment professional as well looking at the future of player recruitment.
