Another show where people try to force their politics on you and make it about sexual orientation. Was looking forward to this but hard pass.

Finally, a mutant podcast that focused on the important issue: homoeroticism. Also the music is so good.

I love this show! I’ve been listening to it for probably a couple years and it’s honestly been a driving force behind me getting more into the x-man. The analysis is so interesting and funny and always just a joy to listen to.

I love listening to Maddy and Ryan’s takes on the X-men—they have a unique read on these characters that are first I thought was a bit crazy but the more I’ve listened to the cast and rewatched episodes I can really see their interpretation in the source material. Oh also—sorry for being basic but the music legit slaps—it’s so catchy.

Fun, insightful interaction between too life long friends talking for way too long about 22 minute episodes. It rules!

If you’re a fan of the X-Men and you want a casual, almost soapy dissection of queer subtext in X-Men media replete with lots of fun headcannon, this is a podcast for you. The hosts have a great dynamic and are clearly having a LOT of fun, which makes it a joy to listen. Overall, it isn’t really comparable to other comics/TV podcasts I’ve listened to, which is both a refreshing strength and its main weakness. The show isn’t always as polished or as structured as it could be. Sometimes they take overly long tangents that don’t always tie back to the subject matter and sometimes the character bios they present in certain episodes aren’t always fact-checked, like they’re doing it from memory and not from research. But these are quirks, not fatal flaws, and quirks are actually what actually make this show great. It’s never overproduced or overly scripted, which a lot of podcasts suffer from. It is completely a product of the two hosts’ energies and love for the stories and the medium, which is everything you want in a podcast like this one. If anything, their more casual approach taught me to take the things I love, like the X-Men, a little less seriously.

Both of the host personalities are wonderful and having just about finished ups marathon of all the live action movies leaving me craving more content this show is perfect

First episode I listen to is the x-men 2000 episode, and early onJames Cameron, director of Tweninator, Terminator 2, Aliwns, Titanic, etc.,was said to have directed Sin City, and that's possibly how his X-men could have been. What?!! How old are the hosts?? All good though. Edit: Be warned, there is A LOT of sex talk.

I love that this podcast sits right at the crossroads of "detail-oriented" and “let’s make it gay” because continuity and queerness are two of my favorite things. I’m doing a “watch one episode of the show, listen to one episode of the podcast, maybe rewatch the episode and remember all of Ryan and Maddy’s jokes” and it’s supremely gratifying. The audio is very clear and the production is great, and Maddy’s musical accompaniments to each segments are incredible. If you want more friends to scream about X-Men media with, The Mutant Ages is the way to go.

It’s so cool to have a podcast where people review the X-Men through every medium possible. They joke and say it will take years and it will because it’s a fun but daunting task. They review the episodes but also break them down in ways you wouldn’t expect: politics (which I honestly never thought about until I started listening to this podcast) and which characters are probably gay. As a MAJOR fan of Marvel/DC animated I can tell that they miss on some details throughout their reviews. But I’ve watched these shows a million times repeatedly every year so who am I to judge? If you like the X-Men animated series you won’t be sorry you listened.

Not enough Xavier and Magneto shipping and kinky Xavier content. It’s an awesome podcast with plenty of sweet gay and bisexual ships. The hosts are nice. Occasionally, they say stuff that would make non-binary/genderqueer and/or trans people cringe. Also, they kink shame a bit even if it’s overall positive in entertaining the kinky content. Overall, reccomend ;) ~WHERE’S MORPH!??!!

...I have no idea how I stumbled on this podcast but I’m mega happy I did. If you are looking for hilarious and sex positive commentary on the 90’s X-men animated series then check out this awesome and hilarious podcast. And even if you’re not looking for those two things check out this pod anyway, really funny and sweet hosts. These guys are awesome, please support them!

As an on-again off-again comic reader and lifelong comics fanboy, your show fills the x-men void in my life when I’m “doing the right thing” like paying down my credit cards or student loans instead of buying new comic books every week. If a mutant had the special ability of spicy farts...it'd be this podcast. In addition, they seem to be deleting dissenting opinions...not cool buddies!

Really enjoyable podcast. The episodes can be long, but they don't have any dead air. I have never been a big X-Men fan, but I have still been able to have a lot of fun listening. They do a great job covering each incarnation of the X-Men, giving background about the characters, and providing their own analyses.

But for the target audience--people who love X-Men and its themes of friendship, diversity, self-acceptance, and boning Wolverine--this is one of the greatest podcasts ever conceived. Not only do Ryan and Maddy offer insightful analyses of every TV and film version of the X-Men, but they also provide relevant character backstory, comic book history, and a continuing saga of Ryan's totally-real-you-guys date with Wolverine. Plus, with each episode, they discuss which characters were the most gay, and let me tell you, some episodes it's a real toss-up! EVERY member of the X-Men is clearly hooking up with every other one. I honestly don't know how Cyclops can even sit down.

I've been a lifelong X-Men fan since discovering the comics and cartoon when I was 10 years old. The hosts, Maddy and Ryan, are super knowledgable and have managed to make me re-obsess over the X-Men after nearly 25 years.

If you're looking for a detailed, dry synopsis of all things X-Men, TVTropes and Wikipedia probably have you covered. But I definitely prefer this podcast- Maddy and Ryan wear their deep, abiding love for X-Men's eccentricities and uh, subtext on their sleeve. The thought of diving into X-Men lore is exhausting, so The Mutant Ages feels like a show aimed directly at me. The music is killer, the hosts are funny, and the show itself can go from hilarious to thoughtful and back again. Just how I like it!

Amazingly fun show with hosts who know what they're talking about. Every minute is so enjoyable! Not required to watch the episode beforehand, but it helps a bit. Only complaint would be the exclusion of clips or music from the episodes. It's a lot of work but it makes it easier to follow along. Of course you probably might not want to worry about copyright issues ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You know already if you're the kind of person who wants to listen to moment-by-moment breakdowns of the 90s X-Men animated series. If you, like me, are that kind of person, then you're going to thoroughly enjoy this podcast. Maddy and Ryan are great fun and have the easy rapport of old friends, as well as a clear love and knowledge of the source material. You might learn a thing or two (I had no idea my favorite arcade game ever was based on a terrible animated pilot), and that thing or two will be about the X-Men, as it should be. My only complaint is that the podcast theme music, while excellent, does not sample the amazing theme music from the X-Men show.

Maddy and Ryan have a lot of great X-Men knowlege and point out a lot of details that would otherwise be missed. I highly recommend this podcast for anyone who, like me, grew up watching the X-Men animated series and is looking for a funny and entertaining podcast to listen to while revisiting the TV series.
