Established in 1967, the Milton S. Eisenhower Symposium is a widely acclaimed lecture series sponsored by the Johns Hopkins University. The symposium is designed to present an issue of national importance to the university, as well as to the Baltimore and Washington communities. The symposium has established a reputation as a forum for the free exchange of ideas and analysis of issues at the forefront of the nation's conscience. All events are free and open to the public. The Symposium is run entirely by undergraduate students at the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus. The co- chairs, selected each year by the school's student council, are responsible for choosing a theme, securing speakers, raising necessary funds, recruiting other student volunteers, and publicizing the series. The Symposium is the premiere university event for the fall semester as it attracts thousands of students and residents from the Baltimore/D.C. area. The Symposium has a history of attracting some of the world's most prominent leaders, politicians, artists and scholars.
