It feels like I have come to the natural conclusion of Season 1 of 'The Mourning Brew'.
My journey, so to speak, has been delved into (and quite deep). Obviously, there are other family members I could speak to - and no doubt will do, but for now, I feel that the podcast needs to evolve into what I initially planned, and be there as a platform to help others.
So, I will be taking a brief hiatus to recompose myself, and book in guests ready for a fresh start to Season 2. Thank you so much to anyone and everyone who has listened to an episode thus far - all previous episodes will continue to be online should you want to re-listen or catch up on any you have missed.
Otherwise, you can always grab me on my social media platforms: @TheMourningBrew on both Instagram and Twitter.
I look forward to having a brew with you all very soon!

I welcome my brother, Joseph Russell Petcher to this week's episode.
Rusz and I have different mums, but the same dad. Our relationship has been complicated although, it's totally understandable why (if you haven't listened to Episodes 4 and 5 yet I recommend you do before proceeding to get a basic understanding.) Needless to say, I've wanted this chat for a while, but I kept putting it off, mainly through fear of what he may have to say.
Join us as we talk about how the loss of his mum on Christmas day affected him, how my mum and I moved in 3 months later, how he handled the passing of our dad and I learn some shocking revelations I had no clue about!
If you enjoyed this episode and would like to thank Rusz, keep up with him on social media here:

When I first had the idea to start 'The Mourning Brew' I knew that I wanted to invite my best friend/ brother from another mother Jonathan Masterson on to talk.
Not only has he been a massive help to me going through my journey of grief, being there for me when my mum and dad died, he has also encountered a lot of grief in his own life too. So, I knew he would have a load of wisdom and advice to give on the subject.
In this episode, we continue to focus mainly on my journey and the huge part he played in supporting me.
I will however be bringing Jonnie back on at a later date so we can delve into his journey in depth.

The first episode back for 2021 - and what better way to start than by bringing on a very special guest: Emma Drysdale.
Emma is not only my fiancée but she was my rock and my biggest support through the passing of my mum.
When you are going through something so traumatic you need a strong support system, someone help and guide you, but it's not uncommon to take these people for granted. It is with this in mind that I asked Emma to be my first guest, as she can give me an honest account of what happened and how I acted & reacted to what was going on, and also let me know what was going on with her during this time, as I really didn't have a clue, I was just trying to make it through each day.
In this chat we delve deep into Emma's relationship with my mum, how my dad has been perceived by her even though she's not met him, how my personality changed after my mum passed and she gives some really helpful advice to those who are also supporting partners in their hour of grief.
If you enjoyed this episode and would like to thank Emma and keep up with her on social media you can find her here:

In this weeks episode, the tables are flipped (as my good friend would say) & I am interviewed for the 'Actor Problems' podcast by Tony Rossi.
Please don't worry if you're not an actor, we don't really talk about the industry but more about my dealings with grief, how I still fear death and how through my experiences of loss I can see the positives from 2020.
This is the first time I've ever been interviewed on a podcast, and I think that is clear to tell - so I apologise for how fast I talk and my mumbling - but again like Tony would say #NotPerfect.
I hope you get a lot out of this interview, as I certainly did, and if you'd like to keep up with everything Tony does (and I really think you should) you can find him here:

In this weeks episode, I break down all the lessons I've learnt from my experiences with loss and grief, and even some lessons I've discovered since starting this podcast.
If you are currently mourning the loss of a loved one, or you're comforting someone who is in mourning then there are some valuable takeaways in this episode I urge you to take notice of.
They range from practical pieces of advice, things you can (and I think you should) be doing now through to realisations I wish I'd have known earlier.
This is by no means a comprehensive list, and if you think I've missed anything out please let me know - and I can rectify this in future episodes. As is the way with life, we never stop learning until we pass.

In this weeks episode, I talk about my Mum - Peta Lyn Petcher (aka Potty Dotty).
Another hard episode for me, mainly as this death is fresher and the fact that I was closer to my mum than anyone else.
I go into my mum's past and share some funny/ heartwarming stories of the kinds of things we'd get up to. I also go into her illness and the decline of her health.
I break down the lessons I learned from her passing, and I reveal something very personal about how I've been affected by my mums passing - that not many people know!
The one thing I'd like for you to take away from this episode is: please put plans in place should the unexpected happen to you. I asked my mum to get life insurance after my dad passed and she never did, she never booked a funeral plan - these two little acts would have made the worst month of my life just that little bit easier.
⚠️TW - there is mention of suicide in this episode, please if this is a subject you struggle with, proceed with caution or seek professional help if needed: https://www.samaritans.org

In this weeks episode, I talk about my Dad - Joseph Robert Petcher (aka Bobby Petcher).
I kept putting this one off, as I knew it was going to be a hard one to record and edit, bringing up so many emotions - and I was right. But I got it done.
I delve into my relationship with my Dad growing up, and how his death affected me - and the lessons I learnt from it.
The one thing I'd like for you to take away from this episode is: nobody is perfect, not you, not the departed, no one! And if you have mixed feelings about your loved one now they are gone and you feel ashamed because of it, it's perfectly natural - you're not on your own!

In this weeks episode, I talk about the loss of my best friend Clinton Maxwell Blakeley.
This one hit me hard. Learning that anyone who was close to you has passed is always going to be difficult, but when that person is the same age as you, and still young - it really puts things into perspective.
I go into how we met, why he meant so much to me, how his funeral affected me and the lessons I've learnt from him. I also try to figure out if his nationality was Irish or Yorkshire 😂 (sorry a little inside joke).
The one thing to take away from this episode - don't take your friends for granted, I always thought Clint was going to be there, and we'd have time for that game of rugby, that pint and catch up, to take more photos together...
