The host of the Marketing Book Podcast is not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but his guests are! Actually Douglas is great, 1 of the best hosts in podcast land, I just know he can take a joke!

Douglas really gets to know the material (the books) and the authors themselves and it shows in his interviews. His interviews are fresh, fun, and full of useful information. It’s nice that he reads short snippets of the books so that you can get a sense of the source material, but then he asks great follow up questions about that material, so that the author can go deeper, which is where things usually get really interesting. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this podcast because it’s to the point on marketing questions commonly asked. I highly recommend giving this one a shot. Thanks so much for all the great information.

It’s one of the few podcasts that I listen to regardless of the guest because i trust Douglas’s curation and ability to make every episode interesting and actionable. I can’t count how many books I have read and thought leaders I now engage with thanks to this podcast. It has made a profound impact on my businesses, organizations whose boards I sit on and in my overall career. I’ve been listening for years and have applied so much of the learnings from various authors and books. I consider myself a relatively knowledgeable marketer but as Douglas says “the podcast is to help you keep up with the quickly changing field of marketing…” This is where you go to do it.

I have been listening to Douglas and his guests for the last three years. The ~1h long format allows me to get a good grip on the scope of each book. The weekly cadence gives me enough new ideas to consider, often resulting in that I buy one book and read per month. The perfect companion for my daily walks and the humor blended with sharp questions and deeper insights.

Just finished the Andy Cunningham episode. Great, actionable information. I’ve got my DNA and my genotype. Not like it’s true, but it’s already helpful to improve our branding. That also got me to relisten to the Mark Shaefer episode on belonging.

Best podcast. Amazing host who is just so kind with his guests and funny. I still laugh at the same jokes even after listening to so many episodes. And it’s refreshing not to have an ego driven podcaster. Many podcasters are all about themselves, what they’ve done/doing, how amazing they are, use the guest or material to pump themselves up & it’s just boring and annoying after a few months. Douglas makes it all about his authors and still has his endearing personality shine through. It’s so insightful & inspiring to hear the author talk about his book. It just makes me want to buy all the books he reviews.

Fantastic podcast that is informative as it is entertaining. While the name of the podcast has "Marketing" in the title, it is a phenomenal resource for sales leaders and individual contributors. I have all types of books that are now on my bookshelf because of this gift of a podcast.

This podcast is one of my all-time favorites. I have often started listening to an interview and ordered the book before it’s finished. I love this podcast because Douglas not only interviews the authors, but he reads everyone, and he is always willing to help a listener looking for a book on a topic. He is a cross between Google and the warm-hearted local librarian who wants to help you out.

Great guests and actionable insights, good humor and fun conversations

For a “nonmarketing” person such as myself, I find the episodes helpful in learning new skills for promoting my practice along with some good humor.

As a business owner, I’m involved in all aspects of my business. I use this podcast for the next book that I will read. I listen to this podcast every week when I mow my lawn as it’s the only few minutes I get every week uninterrupted. If you are in Sales or Marketing or a leader in any business or industry, this is a great podcast. I’d suggest colleges and universities make this required listening.

You will listen to all types of marketing podcasts to advance your knowledge. However, only this podcast really “gets it” Marketing has to be responsible for real ROI to be taken seriously. You will hear some great authors on storytelling, branding, content and....sales. We have to know how to sell to be able to market and we are toast as a profession. You will love this podcast or it will be a wake up call. On a personal level, the host is funny, effusive, and self deprecating...qualities not often seen in a public realm. So listen, learn, implement, and prosper or at least survive.

I just found this remarkable podcast on facebook and glad I did. Duglas, the host draws you in from the beginning and the interview of each author is rich with marketing content. The podcast is about the books but it is much more than a book review. The podcast brings to life each author and shares with us their full body of knowledge of marketing. This is such an amazing podcast. I personally didn’t have the time nor the access to the movers and shakers in marketing industry; but, through Douglas awesome interviews I have both. Add the fact he responds and interacts with his tribe and it makes this podcast a can’t miss weekly appointment.

This a great podcast. The conversations are casual and lighthearted while managing to be informative. Douglas sounds like he’s comfortable with all of the guests. And he has that unique talent to make his guests comfortable with him.

I work in the legal field and always intended to, so I never bothered to learn anything about marketing. But once I began learning how things really work, I found out quickly that to be successful I had to learn how to market myself and my firm. More than any other resource, this podcast has helped me do that.
