Do you ever feel like your emotions are running the show? As leaders, we often struggle with the pressure to keep things bottled up and be "professional." But what if there was actually a benefit in embracing your emotions, both good and bad?
In this episode of The Manager Track podcast, Ramona proposes that there is a way to leverage those emotions to create positive outcomes. As a leader, understanding and expressing emotions authentically (yet still managed), whether positive or negative, can influence and inspire others.
The same can be said for your team members as well. By engaging with team members about their feelings and emotions, you can create a supportive and constructive environment.
If you are looking for tips on leveraging the power of emotions for your team, don't miss this episode.

In this week's episode of the Manager Track podcast, host Ramona Shaw delves into the intriguing subject of coachability and its crucial role in personal and professional development. She begins by setting the stage with a helpful overview of what coaching conversations entail and then unpacks the four pivotal aspects of coachability: self-reflection, openness to feedback, action-taking, and self-accountability.
A question to consider: When something happens, do you think outward of what were the circumstances or what were other people doing? Or are you self-reflecting and considering what you chose to do or not to do?

This is a re-release of one of the most popular episodes of The Manager Track podcast. If you've ever struggled with analysis paralysis, overthinking, or just plain 'ol stinkin' thinkin' then this episode is for you.
When we think something over and over again, our thoughts quickly become patterns and those patterns then turn into beliefs.
Now beliefs can either be positive beliefs (things that will actually help us and support us and make us feel more confident and be more effective), or they can be negative beliefs that can make us doubt ourselves, be less effective, and fail to create the results that we really want. The problem is that they’re not that easy to uncover.
In this episode, I’m sharing the 6 most common thinking patterns that many of us have running around in our minds, whether consciously or unconsciously.

When we explore the etymology of the term "decide," we uncover its roots in the Latin word "decidere." "De-" means "off" or "down," and "caedere" means "to cut." In this historical context, "decide" originally meant to "cut off" or "cut away" alternative possibilities. The crucial insight? If we decide in advance of emotionally charged events, we are more likely to make logical, wise decisions.
Decisiveness involves navigating uncertainty with clarity and purpose. The power of decisiveness lies in making choices that shape outcomes, allowing us to carve a deliberate path forward.
By approaching decisions with foresight and careful consideration, we empower ourselves to make logical, wise decisions, mitigating the pitfalls of emotional reactivity. This proactive stance enables leaders to navigate challenges with a clear, level-headed perspective, fostering a culture of thoughtful decision-making without the need for drastic measures.
Be sure to tune in to this episode to gain insights into:
The real-life consequences of defaulting to quick, emotionally driven, reactive responses.
The ripple effect of reactivity on individual leaders and teams.
Strategies for balancing deliberate reactivity in critical situations.
Six key indicators of a reactive leadership pattern.

The one person you spend more time with than anyone else is yourself. So, it's no surprise that your internal dialogue with yourself is also more crucial than any other conversation you could have.
In my coaching sessions, I often discover that my clients' internal conversations are the stumbling blocks for their career success. For example, without evidence, they've convinced themselves that giving direct feedback will lead to being disliked by their direct reports or that holding their team accountable might brand them as a micromanager.
But here's the truth: these worries are often more unfounded than valid. The reality often differs from the fears our internal dialogues present.
In this episode, I will share the most common unfounded worries about leadership and provide insights to help you reframe those doubts, empowering you to move forward more confidently in your leadership role.

If you've ever been captivated by the challenges and dynamics of competitive reality shows like "Survivor," "Squid Game," or "Hell's Kitchen," you'll find this week's podcast episode particularly intriguing.
In the world of leadership, much like these reality TV competitions, the climb up the organizational hierarchy brings heightened challenges. Just as contestants face tougher trials and personalities clash under pressure, leaders encounter more complex problems and, inevitably, "difficult" people the further they get in the competition.
The real question isn't IF you'll encounter a challenging individual, but WHEN. Mastering the art of handling difficult people is not just a skill; it's a career game-changer.
Whether it's a challenging coworker, a demanding supervisor, or even a problematic direct report, we all encounter difficult people in our careers.
This episode provides valuable insights on how to navigate these situations, retain our power, maintain healthy relationships, and when it's time to consider stepping away.
If you've ever felt stressed, drained, or frustrated by "difficult" people, this episode is a must-listen.
