Tomorrow we are jumping back into our study of the Gospel of Luke and we have arrived at a transition point in the life of Jesus and His disciples. Since the fourth chapter of Luke the disciples have sat in the classroom with Jesus teaching them about the kingdom of God; showing them how to minister to others and explaining why it is important that the grace and love of God be extended to all people. Now, Jesus is going to push the disciples out of the classroom and into the hospitals of their surrounding region where they can try their hand at practicing what they have been learning about ministry from the Master.-Sermon by Pastor Tre

The stories of Jairus' daughter and the woman with the issue of blood continue Luke's theme of obedience to the word of God. Earlier he used the examples of family, nature and demons to show its importance. This week he focuses on disease and death. We have a real Enemy trying to keep us enslaved to this world. Thankfully though, we have an even greater Advocate who has overcome this foe of ours. The story of the Gadarene demoniac is a powerful example of the Sovereignty of God, His willingness to suffer with us, His power over Satan and the victory and abundant life that we can have because of Jesus.

"Last Sunday Pastor Mike shared Jesus’ emphasis on sowing the seed of God’s Word. In the parable of the Sower (Lk. 8:4-15) and the parable of the lamps (Lk. 8:16-18) Luke uses two different examples to drive home the same point. Imagine these stories as one piece of fruit, a peach for example. If we were to open that peach, at its center we would find a seed. Comparatively, the seed at the center of these parables is hearing God’s Word.First, as ministers of reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18), we learn from this parable of the Sower, to be generous with the Word of God. We are to scatter it far and wide. Second, the soil into which that seed is sown matters a lot. Finally, we are to allow the light of God’s Word to illuminate our lives and the lives of those around us. ‍In the parable of the Sower, Jesus teaches His disciples the importance of what to hear.In the verses that we will cover today, Jesus teaches His disciples the importance of how to hear.Open your Bibles and go with me to Luke eight and let’s start at verse sixteen."- Sermon by Pastor Tre

"So many things in our nation, even in this community, have changed during the past thirty-six years, but there is one thing that hasn’t changed at all. Fads, trends, technology, social mores and norms, political power shifts, as well as other changes have and will continue to change in our society in the future, but who the Lord called us to be and the course He set us on so many years ago hasn’t changed at all. God called us back then, and He continues to call us to this very day, to be a “Lighthouse of Hope to the Community,” to teach His Word, to share the Good News of Jesus in any and every way possible.
