In this episode, Scott shares his latest poem, The Shadow Man. The backstory of the poem is about his encounter with a demon, which he calls the shadow man. The demon visited Scott in the middle of the night, a week before his father passed. He showed up for five nights in a row, and after Scott's father passed, he never saw the shadow man again. The poem chronicles how Scott made peace with the demon, allowing the demon to be set free.

Poem for the episode - The Shadow Man
Shadow Man
Scott Bryant-Comstock, 2/14/22
Jarred and awakened from dreams of safety known,
banging and clanging on the opaque window that separates me from my soul.
I hear a voice that's not a voice.
I see a soul that has no soul.
It's the Shadow Man,
revealing his plan, telling me it's time to go.
Rap, tap, whack.
I am the Shadow Man.
And I've come to take you back.
Come play with me,
I will set you free.
The Shadow Man is coming for me.
Part man, part animal, Bobcat-like in size.
Squirrel teeth, bat face, piercing black snake eyes.
A familiar grin with a sinister spin
beckons me to cross to the other side.
I cannot move. I cannot stand,
I live in fear of the Shadow Man.
But fear is just a tear that refuses to fall.
If I let go of fear, then the Shadow Man has no reason to call.
No shadow, no fear, no reason to stall.
What if I welcome the Shadow Man to be a part of it all?
Rap, tap, whack,
I am the Shadow Man.
I've come to take you back.
It's time for you to see
that you belong to me.
No, I say, not today.
I know you for what you are.
Demon blood lurks inside, toying with my heart.
Tempting, deceiving, thieving, grieving, tearing me apart.
You are lost in a child's game,
full of longing, suffering, and pain.
I wish you well in your quest to be free.
Shadow Man, you no longer hold a spell over me.
You and I will coexist, but no longer will I feel your grip.
No longer will you immerse me in your thunderous tryst
with darkness, with loss, with the absence of light.
Shadow Man, what you seek is not me.
What you seek is to be released.
The dark parts of me speak to you with glee
but they won't set you free, just as they won’t for me.
Flooding my face with an ocean of mist,
I am mindful of the secret to finding true bliss.
Acceptance, forgiveness, the is that just is.
The secret is to neither cling nor flee.
The secret is to just be.
Shadow Man, will you take my hand,
and embrace all of the parts of me?
Only then will I truly be able to see.
Only then will we be free.

Poem for the episode - The Chrysanthemum Field
The Chrysanthemum Field
By Scott Bryant-Comstock
The season of color is upon us.
Explosions of yellow, orange, red, purple,
white, and pink.
A densely woven fabric of wonder with lines of
green in between,
such as the joy and the splendor of the
chrysanthemum field.
God's intoxicating reminder that our love is real.
Can you see it?
Can you feel it?
Can you hear the sound of love
as the breeze whispers through the stems close
to the ground?
Come nearer, where it's clearer,
where the earth meets the sky.
There, right there.
Can you feel me now?
Close to your side?
The slow caress of your palm across the ground.
The freshly tilled soil resisting,
but giving way to the rhythmic pattern of your hand,
gliding round and round.
The stubble on my chin from thousands of miles away,
begins to ever so slightly sway as if to say,
you are here with me.
Yes, it's real.
We are lying together in the chrysanthemum field.
Your hand slowly travels from ground to stem,
imagining the journey within,
that birthed the bloom at the end.
A glorious expression of all that went in
to the creation of this most perfect specimen,
tracing the journey from seed to flower,
surrendering yourself to the chrysanthemum's
intoxicating power.
I feel the touch of your hand on my knee,
tracing the scar that defines me,
that is only for you to see,
hand on scar from a distance so far.
An unspoken act performed countless times
that reminds me without words,
we will be okay, we are here to stay.
Our scars continue to heal,
as we lie together in the chrysanthemum field.
You rise above the blooms,
where the sun dances with the moon.
The aura of colors surround you,
flow through you,
and unveil the true you,
standing alone in the chrysanthemum field.
I reach for the picture of you
that hangs prominently in my view.
And I feel hopeful for renewal.
Come my love.
There is much to be revealed.
There is much to be healed,
as we lie together in the chrysanthemum field.

In this episode, Scott delves into the concept of the waves of knowing, like being in the ocean and being part of the waves, feeling the rhythmic tug and flow of being at one, and then not being at one and wondering if you still can be at one, symbolizing our ongoing quest for knowing and the dance that happens–The dance of settling in and being at one with yourself and letting everything flow and go. And then the other part of the dance where you tend to get pulled out and go into doubt, fear, questioning, and other negative thoughts that often get in your way from being at one with yourself.

Poem for the episode - The Waves of Knowing
Waves of Knowing
By Scott Bryant-Comstock
Waves of knowing
Rhythmic powerful transcendent waves
Waves of knowing engulf me with the inevitable power of surrender
Waves of knowing
Lifting me, floating me, moving me,
Surrender
Surrender to the waves of knowing
Waves of knowing
Greet me and leave me,
Embrace me, and abandon me
Waves of knowing flood my being
Waves of knowing are fleeting in their greeting,
all consuming in their embrace,
leaving me longing in their retreating
Embracing, retreating,
flooding, receding
Waves of knowing
I am glowing with the knowing
I am fearful of the not knowing
Waves of knowing,
they come and they go,
they darken, they glow,
they are waves,
waves of knowing
Crashing over me,
around me,
through me,
these waves of knowing,
Tantalizing me,
touching me,
drowning me,
metamorphosizing me,
through their knowing
Leaving me,
retreating through me,
but always returning
These waves of knowing
Reminding me that they are in charge,
They are constant
I am temporary
They are knowing
I am seeking
They are knowing
I am doubting
These waves of knowing with their incessant glowing,
coursing through me with a rhythmic flowing,
that remind me that I am one with knowing
Is it okay to know?
Is it okay to glow?
Is it okay to let go?
And embrace the waves of knowing?
To be at one with the flowing?
To not advance, to not retreat?
To be as one with the waves of knowing?
to be at peace with the oneness of the wave?
To feel the release of doubt, of fear?
To be complete?
I am the wave, the wave is me.
I am the universe.
I am free
