We had some rough weather recently…I mean it’s ‘california’ rough but it was rough for us! Haha Anyway, it has sort of got me in a place of feeling like I just want to wear sweats and curl up on the couch and binge watch gilmore girls for the 10th time lol BUT I know that isn’t what God wants for me because then I will be isolated and isolation always leads me down a dark  path. I’m extroverted/introverted. I used to be all extroverted but as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized the benefits of quiet time! Lol BUT since that is only supposed to be a benefit and it’s not how I get refuled…i have to be very intentional about not getting sucked into my introverted side. So in the winter when my introvert is telling me to hibernate, I have to make an decision to make plans with friends and get out of the house on the regular! I’ll be honest…it’s not easy but I know that I need it!Ways to help-practical and spiritual 🙂 make a winter bucket list. I’ve talked about doing summer buckets lists in past episodes…but I only thought of a winter one when researching about this topic!Try to get outside anytime the sun peeks it’s head out! Even if it’s just for  a few minutes…Better sleep, reduces anxiety and depression, immunity, stronger bones, lowers blood pressure, gives energy!So wrap yourself in a blanket or parka and get in the sun!Spend quality time with Jesus and ask Him for direction on how to bring the joy or people into your everyday during this season.Keep pressing on friend!Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. Do you find it hard to get into a rhythm? YOu want closeness with God but you can’t seem to make the time to get into your word or to even pray? You are so busy with life and overwhelmed with al the things that you can’t seem to get a grip on your spiritual faith walk? Well we are going to dive into some healthy habits that will increase your confidence as a believer and help your mental capacity! If you are here for it, then let’s get to it!3 healthy habits that I love to do EVERYDAY that really help kick start the day and now they are really just like clockwork in my day…Exercise- whatever this looks like to you…at least 30 mins a day of exercise- there are multiple benefits of moving our bodies…and alot of them have to do with mental health! It’s up to us to keep our physical and mental bodies healthy!Sleep! Studies who that at least ⅓ of the population isn’t get the sleep they need! What?? AND women are likely to struggle with the sleep that they get…insomnia etc. Probably because we overload ourselves and have so many things going on in our brains that we have a hard time shutting off.Practical tools- keep a notepad nearby(or notes app in your phone) to brain dump when you can! Cut back on sugar and processed foods(eating out)- Have you ever heard the expression you are what you eat? It seemed silly at the time but So many studies show that what we eat determines how we look & feel. I’m not so much worried about the look even though how we look determines our mental health too( I find that I  need to get dressed here and there otherwise I start to feel super frompy and that takes a toll on your mental health friends!!) Sugar especially has so many side effects and it’s addictive! It seems like a quick fix to our emotional woes at the time but it doesn’t serve us well. Now again this is in moderation. You don’t have to go super crazy and just don’t eat anything. If you DO want to do that, that’s awesome…I bet you won’t regret it! BUT I know cutting out sugar is hard and I love me some peanut butter m&ms from time to time! I’m saying we need to eat less of it and dn’t let it be the thing we run to when we are having a hard time or are on our periods :) The 4th and most important thing is to read your bible. I CANNOT say this enough. I know I sound like a broken record but we need it! As we started this new year I wanted bring us to back to some basics to help remind you of some solid truths to get you started ;in the right direction this year! Last week I touched quickly on the fact that we believe that Jesus is the son of God, He came, died and rose again in victory so we could have freedom in Him! Today quickly on of the foundational beliefs is that the Bible is God’s word and truth. 2 Timothy 3:16-17. It says, All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.Hebrews 4:12- For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double edged sword. It penetrates even to the dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. God speaks to us through his word! Woot! When we trust and believe that His word is truth and stand on the promises of God then we can stand in His victory, peace, joy..you name it! So today's quick encouragement is Develop spiritual disciplines- Just like any other thing in our life, eating heathy, exercising, sleeping well, all the self care stuff…we need to develop spiritual habits that will help us grow in our walk with God!2Declare His wordThis is going to be a simple one. While you’re developing your discipline of reading his word, start to declare it out loud! There is something amazing that happens when we partner with God’s word and actually use it to speak life over ourselves, marriages, families, kids, work places, schools, homes etc! So last week we talked a bit about our beliefs as far as believing that Jesus is the son of God, He came, died and rose again so we can have freedom and victory! Reminder…HE is still on the thone of victory in your life! Keep your eyes fixed on Him friend! When He left, he left us with Holy Spirit our advocate. John 14:15-17-  “If you love me, keep my commands.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—  the Spirit of truth. Vs 26-27-  But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.We believe in the Holy Spirit and in the Holy Trinity! I love that HOly Spirit is still here with us…leading and guiding us. Going before us. Romans 8:26-27 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.He even prays on our behalf!! Isn’t that so awesome! So quick steps to help you today..Decide to give it all and Dive in! - Ephesians 3:19 says May you experience the love of the Chirist, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. (NLT)When we give Him full control and really get soaked in his presence we can understand His fullness and overflow that goodness in our lives!So practically speaking what this means is to not hold back when it comes to getting to know jesus. Make a decision to make Him number uno in your life! Jump into reading the word. Go to church with the expectation that He will move in your life. Bring worship and prayer into your home with full abandon..not holding back :) 2. Deepen your trust in HimJeremiah 17:7-8 But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. When we have confidence and trust in Him we don’t have to fear or worry and will always have good fruit in our lives!
