Serve a church, but lose your family. We're Reach going to reach a city/town, but somehow ou children moved away from the gospel. Andy Has been out hunting for treasures. What he has found so far wasn't Gold! A Messianic Jew tells us the one definition of Discipleship. He claimed Jews had no other meaning for the word Disciple. What is a disciple, and what is Discipleship? We have churches with 20 different views of what being a disciple is and what discipleship is to accomplish.   We have two decades of parents who worked like dogs serving in the church. But lost their children. Most churches in the maritime Canada have no young adult children in Church. They were raised by elders, deacons, and preachers, and faithful church servants, but today, hardly a single one of their children are in the church today.  It's a hard truth. Andy shared his story of a conversation with his son. Don't neglect to disciple your own family. Don't make our mistakes. Tom grills Andy about being a commercial fishing Captain.  This was recorded spring of 2020, but never got uploaded.  A conversation all over the map. Dr. Marvin Clark. Worked in Canada West Africa, England.  He was infamous as Deputy minister of Health on Prince Edward Island for shutting down corruption in health department.  The RCMP fraud Squad was called in within four months of his term. A half dozen employees were charged. Several tractor trailer loads of stolen equipment returned anonymously, Marvin is as kind hearted as they come. But he is no pushover in the face of corruption.  He was on duty when a Russian U Boat surfaced in Halifax Harbour. Think you've heard all the scripture truths before? If we actually begin to do a little exegesis the world of scriptures opens up, learning new things every day; Things we've never been told or taught from scripture before because of the often "fluffy" Sunday Sermons. Today we get taking about the accuracy and reliability of the Scriptures. Also Translation issues. We talk about the Koran, and how Muslims do not have "translations", only "Interpretations", as any non Arabic Koran is not God's word.. We believe the gospel can be communicated accurately and clearly in every language on earth.  The dismal state of current preaching is compelling so little enthuasim. Steve has worked in several former Soviet Block countries and in Central Asia. Was part of the "Toronto Blessing" in the early days.  People said Leadership was the problem in the Church. If we just have better leadership, the Church Will explode in growth. Then we realize it's not leadership, there are systemic issues with the church system that hold God's kingdom back.  Steve has seen his share of authoritative abusive leadership.  This lead them back to something.  ---------------------- Steve & Marilyn began their journey as Jesus People, sitting on the floor talking about Jesus. We did not think we were a "real" church since we had no building, paid pastor, board, constitution, parking lot or problems. After a thirty year journey through every expression of charismatic experience and ministry, a degree in Philosophy/English and a career in commercial/industrial construction, they are back where they started- sitting on the floor talking with people about Jesus. We love our friends from around the world but especially from Central Asia and are thankful for what they have taught us about simply following Jesus. --------- We talk about ego and Narcissism inherent in Western leadership ides. Church multiplication, versus addition. Men and Women of Peace, and the spiritual landscape of Canada. Those hungering for discipleship of any depth seem to be so few.
