Incomparable Groupthink
There have been an increasing number of episodes over the last couple of years that have left me more angry than thoughtful or entertained. What it comes down to is this: there seem to be more and more ignorant, uneducated takes and misunderstandings or misrepresentations, and the group just goes along with it. It’s like listening to Stella Zinman (Sarah Chalke) from HIMYM describe why she hated Star Wars, except instead of having someone push back, everyone nods along and is like, “Yeah, why do they act like the talking bear is contributing?” I think it’s time for me to check out. At least when ScreenCrush’s Ryan Arey makes a boneheaded take (or a whole season of ‘em), you can expect him to address it in a future video. No such mea culpas from an Incomparable panel.

Great show: expunge the word “like”
Love this show, the host and guests; however, the use of “like” as every third word is fatiguing. I suppose this is how people talk today, but at this point, it’d be great to expunge “like” from our vocabulary (even when it’s appropriate). Also, ending every sentence with a rising inflection is so tiresome.

Eh. It’s ok.
Quality of episodes depends on which guests are on. Some guests are good, like Antony Johnston, and others are awful. It gets too woke at times. Attempts to cram feminism or pick your woke topic into conversations has left me rolling my eyes and deleting shows too often. Whether it’s lobbying for Hercules to be pansexual or counting the number of women in Batman Begins you can see where some conversations go. Also yeah the girl who cannot like um speak you know like yeah without um and uh like needs to go you know like yeah. Addition to previous review: the wokeness continues to grow and newer guests pale in comparison to older guests. Passing on this podcast.

Friends you wish you could hang out with more
The Incomparable is funny and cozy and interesting to listen to whether they’re reviewing new books, old movies, or superheroes. I especially love how the host Jason Snell is invariably supportive of every guest. He keeps the tone high and humorous and moving along.

Can’t recommend enough.
Even when they cover topics I couldn’t possibly care less about (Dr. Who, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) I thoroughly enjoy every single episode on the Incomparable. Jason Snell is the podcast world’s best host/moderator and that’s important when he has so many guests on at once in his weekly roundtable discussions. And that’s what I love about this podcast: Jason and his rotating cast of guests. No matter who he has on any particular episode, every one of them express themselves thoughtfully, intelligently, and with humor and kindness. I get the sense they all genuinely enjoy one another and love celebrating the various corners of nerd culture together. They have, in turn, introduced me to a variety of movies, books, comics and video games I may never have tried were it not for their thoughtful passion for these genres. (And yes, I’m willing to give Dr. Who and Buffy a try because of the Incomparable. As a self-employed father of three with very little time to talk about Hayao Miazaki, Spielberg movies, or the newest SF books with a group of friends every week, I look forward to new episodes with great interest. My favorite podcast out of all my favorite podcasts.

It’s like these guys and gals sprung forth fully-formed from my head. Great book discussions, movie and tv talk, and the occasional draft.

Come for the nerdiness, stay for the banter
Fantastic panelists, a wide range of nerdy subjects, and the best drafts in the business.

Great pop culture podcast
Love this podcast! So many fun drafts. So much great discussion. Love the episodes about Star Wars, Marvel, and Doctor Who the most.

A SF/F Podcast Favorite!
I've been listening to these lovely folks for a long time now. And, well, there's good reason for it. The hosts, obviously, have a lot of great chemistry (and the rotation of hosts really helps with this). The subjects are right up my alley -- especially their bad movie review episodes, which tickle me something fierce. They're one of the Biggie Indies in the SF/F podcast world, so if you're looking for a great podcast covering a wide range of genre material, this is one worth checking out!

No one does it better
I can’t imagine how I existed in the world of fandom before I discovered the incomparable.

Flagship podcast to listen for me
Once an episode I have no overlap on knowledge with the content, but I love everyone in it and everything they talk about, over my head or not. So good I went back to listen to all the Superhero draft episodes last year this month (all 500 hours of them).
My Turn, A Space
There’s Nothing Like It
The Incomparable truly lives up to its name, as there are no other podcasts that can come close to it. It’s like a weekly gathering with your friends, discussing the latest in geek news, be it movies, gaming, books, comics, or what-have-you. I started listening well into its run, but I’ve gone back and started listening to the early episodes and found them to be just as rewarding. I’ve “discovered” several new works and authors thanks to this podcast. Love it!

Just what I want in a podcast!
All the reviews and discussions about media that I'm interested in, spanning from movies to comic books and everything in between. The hosts are very knowledgeable and don't talk over each other, and they all have perspectives that are interesting (even if I may not agree with that view). Really happy I found this podcast!

Best Geek Podcast
Addictive. I listen all the time. Books, movies, games, geek culture, you name it. Check out their other podcasts as well.

Great discussion
I love these guys, their discussions have a great dynamic. Only reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5 is that some of their topics I’m just not interested in (Marvel movies, comic book stuff, TV shows I don’t watch).

Blandly entertaining
It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a group of middle-aged geeks chatting about geeky pop culture. With a few notable exceptions, almost none of them have any real insight or expertise. They’re the assorted friends of Jason Snell — which means they’re other podcasters and tech journalists — and they’re just chatting for the sake of chatting. If you already know the topic of a given episode, you probably know more about it than they do. (See “Gell-Mann Amnesia effect”.) But at least their chatting is brisk and enjoyable, and they occasionally give worthwhile recommendations. Two notes. First, get any episode that features John Siracusa. He is one of those “notable exceptions”: he’s wicked smart about any topic he discusses and about anime in particular. His analysis of “Ghost in the Shell”, in episode #248, was genuinely passionate and insightful. Second, skip any episode that features Lisa Schmeiser. She is that sort of aging, pseudo-intellectual feminist who embraced critical theory at school and now cannot discuss any topic without making it about race, gender, and perceived social injustice. No, she doesn’t scream it in your face, she’s simply a one-note bore who doesn’t enjoy anything for what it is.

The nerd fix I needed
I love this podcast. Every week I get an hour (or a lot more) of nerdom to listen too, and every second is gold. The incomparable is funny, thoughtful, and always interesting. Out of the twenty or so podcasts I listen to, this is my favorite.

More Gaming Reviews Please!
I was just introduced to this great podcast, and the episode about Firewatch is fantastic in how thoughtful and thorough the opinions were. But with that said, I can’t seem to find more episodes about other games. Anyway, if your guys could cover more games I would love it!

Love this podcast network! I've been travelling quite a bit for work, and it makes the miles fly by listening to clever people talk about topics I also enjoy. Thanks for all the chuckles!

My Meat Canary Podcast
Hi. Have you ever wondered about dead birds? This podcast goes into in depth detail on that particular subject. What I appreciate most is that they have gotten much more specific as time has worn on. The first few episodes covered an ENTIRE genus per episode. The Myiagra genus is a good topic to start with, but a lot of depth can only be found through the painstaking process of multiple hours of discussion. I appreciate the work!

Consistently Fun Conversation
Even when the topic is not something I am familiar with, the conversation is great, inviting me in whether I am up-to-speed or not. It has also added to my lexicon: “Head-Canon” “Glenning” and “Siracusan Opening Statement” Yay!

Like hanging out with geeky friends...
Insightful, smart, witty, and informative. I love that all of the panelists are experts on various topics, and can be analytical about things they love. When I’m well-versed in the topic they’re discussing, I find myself talking back to the podcast (what? you don’t do that too??) and when I don’t know much about the topic, I learn a lot. I sampled one, and immediately went to the archives and started listening from the beginning. It’s great to hear enthusiastic people sharing their passionate opinions about stuff I love. Even when their opinions are wrong. ;)

Somehow amazing and hit and miss
This is one of my favorite podcasts when it is in regards to something even remotely accessible. It has a frequent tendency to do deep cuts into nerdiness that are far beyond my exposure level even being a nerd myself. I adore this podcast when I have even a little exposure to the subject matter. More often, I hit the podcast description and don't have a clue about what they will be talking about. No offense, and I bring this up with trepidation, but I find the obsession one of the frequent female co-hosts has with Doctor Who completely annoying. The Incomperable could do a podcast on Full House and she would shoe horn Doctor Who references into it at a clip that if there were a drinking game based on her references, everyone would just die of alcohol poisoning and their liver would try to get to the roof for an evac.

I despise Brianna Wu
She is a horribly arrogant, self righteous human being. The fact that they all allow her to make bigoted arguments while they all just smile and nod is appalling to me. Why do you allow her to use your show as a soap box? If you are going to bring someone so divisive on this show you need to find someone with opposing viewpoints to balance them out. I love the incomparable but it gets one star because I constantly have to check to see if she's on the panel before I download the episode.

Simply Amazing!
I have been listening to this show for a few months now. It has been so great listening to new and past episodes of movies and tv shoes that I love. Mr. Snell, the host, and his guests of the show are all very insightful and are great at pointing out things that I never noticed about my favorite films, helping me to relive the good (and some of the bad) surrounding some of the many things that I hold dear.

It's like sitting in on a geeky conversation with other smart (but somewhat wacky) friends. Jason Snell is a tremendous host, and the rotating panel of guests keeps it fresh.

everything you want from a podcast (and more)
I spent the day listening to a full panel discussion on one of my favorite movies "GroundHog Day" and was very entertained. The scope and variety of topics is amazing and the panel is genuinely having a great time which really comes through. This podcast always jumps to the top of my list to listen to…

The Incomparable is, as its title suggests, incomparable. Always a blast to hear the panelists discuss culture they love (or love to hate!). A constant delight week after week,

Hours of Geekdom
A coworker turned me on to The Incomparable about a month ago and I've been working my way through the back catalogue for weeks. Listening to them wax on about Babylon 5 and Indiana Jones has gotten me to commit to a full rewatch. 5 stars!!!
SamThunder
Very enjoyable when not littered with politics
Ironically, The Incomparable's most disappointing moment is their episode on series disappointment in which the panelists ream authors who don't see the world through the same tinted lens. It appears the panelists only find authors and artists who take a stand on unpopular opinions unfavorable, while others who follow the majority opinion are praised as though sci-fi demigods. Inclusivity, it seems, is not their aim. Luckily, moments like these are only sprinkled throughout the podcast and do not weigh it down enough to make it unenjoyable. The panelists are very clearly quite intelligent and can be incredibly funny when they focus on their raison d'etre -- examining and enjoying popular geek/nerd/sci-fi culture. I'm not giving up on them and will give four stars -- the fifth will be awarded if they can tone down the hypocrisy.

One of the craziest podcasting bunches there is!
If you are even a little nerdy, you MUST listen to this podcast. But listen carefully of the SPOILER HORN, or else read the description. I have several past episodes I still want to listen to, but I want to read the book, see the movie, etc before I do.

So good it hurts
After a year or more of catching up on The Incomparable, having started listening well after the podcast started, I’m finally writing a review. The Incomparable has little slices of recurring topics, sprinkled with odd one-off shows. The recurring topics include the book club (generally about SF & fantasy books, including a yearly Hugo award round-up), movie discussions, and the comic book club. What you get in each podcast episode is a group of smart, well-spoken people with interesting opinions. They don’t always agree with each other, which makes for good listening. Some of the cast bring viewpoints and interests (Lutz and horror, Siracusa and just about everything) that I don’t normally run into, which adds depth to each episode. Thanks to their book club, I’ve read more good fiction in the past year than I had probably in the five years before that. Thanks to their amazingly long and boring D&D episodes, I finally know for a fact that I was missing absolutely nothing all those years I never tried D&D. Thanks to their comic book club, I gave Hawkeye a shot. Even though I think it's is stylistically of interest, I don’t get the rave reviews. But I appreciate The Incomparable for exposing me to a cultural area that I haven’t visited since I was a kid. For the record, I often stop a book episode after I hear they liked what they’re about to discuss, read the book, then go back and listen. If you read SF, fantasy, or comic books, or watch movies and TV, listen to The Incomparable. If you don’t, then you probably have tons of time on your hands, so listen to The Incomparable.

People ask me why I don't think Big Bang Theory is funny - I point them to the two part Star Trek TOS in The Incomparable. Real nerds are far, far funnier and more interesting than fake cardboard cutout TV nerds. If you are a real nerd, this is a 5 star podcast.
