Leadership Pre-Mortem
DOWNLOAD THE TOOL HERE: https://mailchi.mp/jonbarnes/p94j4udssu CEOs, Founders and Leaders are often overwhelmed from everything coming back to them the whole time. This makes the organisation fragile and restricts the speed at which it can work and make decisions. Meanwhile, it also prevents teams from stepping up and taking responsibility. This is where a 'Leadership Pre-Mortem' can come in handy and help you to distribute responsibility more. Below, I will give you the tools you need to create this shift.

New Year's Resolutions don't work. But this tool does...
I love New Year's Resolutions, but most New Year's Resolutions fail. Which is why in this episode, I talk you through a method that goes beyond hacks and habit trackers and instead goes deeper. In this episode I'll share the logic of this method and a real case study. But there's no substitute for taking 2hrs to do this yourself, so you can download a Workbook and Guided Video Tutorial here! :) https://mailchi.mp/jonbarnes/one-big-thing I hope you have a wonderful 2024! On Psychological Safety
TITLE: What I think we get very wrong about Psychological Safety. SUBTITLE: Psychological Security > Psychological Safety: Aiming for a feeling of safety that is less dependent on circumstance OVERVIEW: In this article, I will be talking about the very trendy topic of 'Psychological Safety'. I will discuss: • It's history in brief • The case for: It's importance and what I think we're getting right • The case against: What I think we're getting wrong • The difference between a Psychologically Safe outer environment and a Psychologically Secure inner environment • What we can do about it at a team level • Most importantly: what we can do about it at an individual level ~ For 1-2-1 or team coaching or to look at my Inner Management Foundation Course, visit https://jonbarnes.me

On Manning Up
My son turned 13 years old yesterday 🥹 He is not quite a boy anymore and not quite a man yet. He’s in that confusing liminal space in between. What cultural rituals are missing today to aid him in this transition? As business and society rightly re-examines what it means to be a man, I offer this: Surely there must be more to being a good man, than not being a bad one! And somewhat nervously, I offer that perhaps it is in fact time to reclaim and reframe the verb: To Man Up. Be well, Jon 🙏

1 - Intro
Mono-culture, a lack of diversity, the exploitation of precious resources... these are just some of the ways in which we’re causing huge damage to not only the natural world, but to human nature in the workplace. The human instinct to interfere is the root cause of both these catastrophes. Yet, it also points us towards the simplest of possible solutions: to get out the way. Wilding is the concept of letting nature regenerate without our interference and it is yielding incredible results. When we move aside, the natural world can show its resilience. In this short essay, we consider how to apply the idea of wilding as a metaphor, to human nature. From stories of child-led education, through to the workplace, we imagine how we could adopt wilding as an alternative lens through which to look at a different way of designing organisations. If nature can bounce back when we get out of the way, is it possible that human nature could regenerate given the freedom to do so? If the natural world is our greatest teacher, what wisdom can it teach us when it comes to our own growth?
