A feedback loop for Architects with Matt Thompson
Today’s talk is with Matt Thompson. I really enjoyed our conversation, Matt is super smart, very thoughtful and was a great guest. He has worked in the construction industry for many years focusing mainly on architects. He’s a writer and more recently he’s set up a company called ListenBack which helps architects get feedback from clients.    We talk about what ‘good’ looks like for an architectural service and how architects might want to rethink how they are doing things.    We talk about fees and this practice of percentage-based fee’s, something I’ve wondered about for years. Matt actually knew some of the history on that!    We touch on Insurance and where they might lead to some of the unconstructive behaviours which can hinder the delivery projects.   We briefly kick about a business idea for someone to work with architecture firms to go for R&D tax relief and funding opportunities.    And of course, we discuss the difficulty of making changes. We basically concluded that clients have fears about trying something new but by pushing the risk down the supply chain, in fact, create the environment which causes the very behaviours they don’t want.      I’ve added this to the index - https://coggle.it/diagram/XaTrbbS0BtCRJQZ1/t/parts-of-the-construction-industry/b01fa4b01f4ba7431eecb30c7dac3e95e25dd9cbe0c06ad703fdc1a89e187c17    Matt’s contact details - https://listenback.co.uk/ [email protected]  https://www.linkedin.com/in/matthew-thompson-99041b16/
